Some lights come with a ribbed plastic insert that can be cut to fit funny-shaped stays; its just a question of finding the right one that will fit your stays.

BTW if the light is low down on the stays it may not be so visible and there is always a chance of it being knocked into the wheel spokes and causing an accident, so be careful.

cheers

Thanks - I'll look into that.

This issue arose after changing my seat recently - the pillar bag is now secured by the cross strap too far towards the front, making it rear heavy & sag down over the pillar light. So maybe any light fitted would point downwards, rather than horizontally...

I have one fitted in such a position as you say on a fairly fat and ovoid seatstay.
It has an adjustable nylon band fitting with a silicone rubber spacing strip both of which you can cut down to size.

Note it is larger and heavier than most rear lights and runs on 2AA batteries rather than 2AAA batteries.

Ah - that is the one I have already (on the seat pillar) ! Would that fit around the angular-profiled, thinner rear fork stay ?

Rear bike light advice / recommendation ?

Hi

I have a Marin mountain bike & would like to fit a rear LED light to the
diagonal downward fork (my pillar bag now hangs over & obscures the
current seat pillar-mounted light).

This fork has an angulated profile (not circular).

Can anyone recommend models that would fit this ?

thanks

Re: Hit & run yesterday - likely driver's penalty ?

Thanks all

From what some of you are saying, it doesn't sound too hopeful now :(

Unless the owner / driver has the decency to come clean.

Hit & run yesterday - likely driver's penalty ?

I was a victim yesterday - pulling off from traffic lights (so fortunately low speed).

Driver who was immediately behind me came so close they knocked me off.

Shaken a bit - but only minor abrasions. cuts & bruises.

Bike OK.

They drove off, pulled up several 100 yrds up the road for a few secs, then buggered off. [Expletive removed]

2 independant witnesess & correct reg number. Reported to cop shop 12 hours later. They seemed fairly confident it would go to court (failure to stop, witnesses etc.).

Anyone else been in similar incident ? What was outcome ?
