Re: Upper body Clothing

Thanks Pete, I have considered the Windshadow, but it is a dark colour , I prefer something lighter for cycling. The Buffalo Unlined Cycle Top looks quite good and I get a 15% discount by CTC membership. Or there's the Montane Lite Speed Jacket Or I have an old Rohan windproof cotton top you gave me...

Bicycle Jersey.

For upper body cover i have a merino base layer and a waterproof jacket (with lining). I received this jersey as a gift http://www.tiso.com/alpn-altu-1128617/altura-nightvision-long-sleeve-commuter-jersey-red-black-alpn-altu-1128617 . I have not worn it , still has labels so hopefully would be able ...

Re: Upper body Clothing

Hi Peter, if you don't mind, I would like to know what you wear waterproof (DWR) top and what windproof(without DWR) you like to use : hopefully (for me so I can keep cost down) they are the same in summer and winter, with just more layers underneath in winter.

Re: Upper body Clothing

The problem with that cag-in-abag I saw online is that they don't come in high viz colours which I would like.

Re: Upper body Clothing

Thank you for all replies. I think my real question , after this discussion, is what lightweight waterproof jacket would you recommend ? and what windproof would you recommend ? Both would need to be lightweight I guess and packable. I already have layers : merino top, jersey, t-shirt, arm and knee ...

Re: Upper body Clothing

I was thinking merino baselayer, cyclying jersey, windproof top e.g. Montane litespeed and a lightweight waterproof e.g. paclite goretex jacket . both the paclite and the windproof can be packed away until needed. Any other ideas , particularly a good lightweight waterproof and a windproof (preferab...

Upper body Clothing

Hi, Just wonder what people wear on top when cycling in the cold and wet. I have a Lusso HT54? jacket - it's quite good, not that waterproof and it is a bit bulky and a bit heavy for summer use. Is it possible to have a lightweight waterproof outer jacket that packs small so can be carried easily an...

Re: saddle adjuster or lay back seatpost?

Thanks everyone. Some of the pages are quite technical as was pointed out.
I am happy to go with TTOPS for now and see how I get on.

Re: saddle adjuster or lay back seatpost?

I now think I am wrong about my saddle needing to be further back from the bars.
When I sit further back, the ball of my foot on forward horizontal pedal is significantly forward of my knee - does that proof it ?
Sorry, if I have been wrong.

Re: saddle adjuster or lay back seatpost?

"Will getting a longer stem not achieve the same goal, unless your fore-aft in relation to the BB is critical?"
I don't know, it wasn't suggested to me by Thorn.

Re: saddle adjuster or lay back seatpost?

Just want to say thank you to everyone for their comments. They are really useful. Will think about the options, The seat post with the 37mm layback might be good, weighs 345g (don't know How that compares with my own seat post - must check) £80 is quite steep. And there is the Spa Saddles saddle (l...

Re: saddle adjuster or lay back seatpost?

p.s. I do feel now like just accepting the way the saddle is, as there doesn't seem to be a cheap simple solution that doesn't add weight as I had originally hoped.
Best.

Re: saddle adjuster or lay back seatpost?

Thanks for all your replies. The seatpost I have is a Thorn http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/thorn-micro-adjust-alloy-seat-post-with-thorn-logo-black-350-mm-prod22890/?geoc=us It already has a layback - it might be 2cm - 3cm. I rode my bike last night and the seatpost position doesn't feel that uncomforta...

saddle adjuster or lay back seatpost?

Hi, With my Brooks b17 in furthest back position it is about 1 inch closer to the bars than I would like. The Saddle Adjuster http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/mobile/vk-saddle-adjuster-prod1249/ and a Layback seatpost http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/thomson-elite-layback-seatpost/rp-prod8569 have both ...
