Thorn vs Vaya,Surly ....

Hi, You might remember I bought a road bike Boardman Carbon Road Pro 2014 from Halfords with Halfords Vouchers. Shortly after the purchase I changed my mind and returned the bike unused. Unfortunately Halfords were unable to return to me the paper vouchers I had used and gave me a gift card instead....

Re: Boardman Road Team Pro / Focus Cayo Evo 7.0

Hi Keyboardmonkey, I'm pleased to say there is a happy ending to this story. I have bought a Boardman Road Pro at my local Halfords store. I plan to collect it next Saturday, so a big thank you to everyone for being so patient with my countless questions! Many thanks, Alastair p.s. I have ordered a ...

Re: soft cycling jacket (please recommend)

Pete, The Rohan jackets look good and they are very light, however they are not wind proof like the Gore Phantom II and given that plus popularity for the latter I think I should choose the Gore Phantom with Windstopper. I won't be buying this jacket soon, so plenty of time to find a good price, unl...

Re: soft cycling jacket (please recommend)

Seems the Gore Phantom jacket is the bee's knee's! Thanks All. Pete, I've not looked at those Rohan tops yet, but will do tomorrow. Thanks. how is the new bike? I cancelled my order for the 53, but Halfords have found a 51.5cm on display in another store and are to transfer it to my local shop. All ...

Re: Boardman Road Team Pro / Focus Cayo Evo 7.0

My touring bike Top Tube (TT) = 56cm, Stem (S) = 10cm, Seat tube (ST) [BB to top of seat tube ] = 57cm.
TT + S = 66cm
Th touring bike position is quite comfortable for me.
Elbow test : arm and hand length plus 3 fingers widths.

Re: Boardman Road Team Pro / Focus Cayo Evo 7.0

Thankyou!
I will go to the shop tomorrow and try doing the elbow position on the bike.
I'll away now and measure the top tube length on my Dawes Galaxy and the stem length too.
Don't want to buy the wrong side.

Re: Boardman Road Team Pro / Focus Cayo Evo 7.0

Thank you both.
I've heard that with your elbow at the saddle tip and arm pointing towards the bars, fingers extended, they should be in an approx. position, but not sure what that position is?

Re: Boardman Road Team Pro / Focus Cayo Evo 7.0

Thanks CyperKnight, http://www.boardmanbikes.com/road/road_comp.html This shows the comp. The small size (SM) has a virtual Top Tube (TT) of 54cm. The stem length is 100mm and the crank length is 170mm. Compare this with the medium which has a TT = 55.5, stem =110mm , crank L. = 172.5. You're 5'6/7 ...

Re: Boardman Road Team Pro / Focus Cayo Evo 7.0

Thanks BoardMonkey,
My inside leg from crotch to floor (bare foot) is 31".
I will go along to Halfords and hopefully sit on 51" of the (Road Team Carbon) and a 53" too - how will I know which is a better size for me ?
I wouldn't like to get the wrong size

Just a question of what size to buy . Please see size chart lower down on page. I'm 172cm tall :
