Re: Little message for Sustrans and local authorities...

Very true. There are several places like this on my commute. Especially on shared paths, it usually means me or another ped/cyclist ends up waiting on the road!

Re: Sportive in the summer?

That's great thanks. I think by summer we'd both be comfortable with 60 miles.

Sportive in the summer?

Well, as my dad seems to have very few interests, at least in the form I can get him a present for Christmas. I came up with an idea. He runs does a lot of running including some marathons. He has also done some triathlons but usually has to do these alone. I was thinking of taking him on a Sportive but it would have to be in the summer and I can't find one close enough in this period.

Firstly, what sort of distance do you think I should be looking at and secondly, does anyone know of any going on near Staffordshire.

Also, tell me if this an awful idea ;)

Thanks, Alex

Re: Code Breaker?

Haven't tried it myself. My mate created a program in C which brought the solution up in 2 hours.

Re: Cycling Xmas Pressies

I was looking at the JoeBlow ones. I really want a helmet cam, but I don't see that being bought for me ;) Maybe an after exams present if I have enough money in January :D

I love summer simply because I get to wear my Oakleys! My normal glasses, although don't obstruct my view (you don't really see the frames, just dark blurs) have the problem that I often seem to be looking over them and I get a nice blurry view of the traffic ahead of me.

A track pump (90 psi with a mini pump is hard work!), new tyres and mudguards :)

Re: Crossing 'waiting' time

There is one on my commute to uni that acts normal in the day. However at night it changes to amber in seconds every time. Probably due to the large amount of drunken students at night ;)

Sorry Mick I could not resist thinking about the other supermarket thread.

In that case you haven't been able to eat the "safeway" for years have you.

Man that's not good. Least you can afford the bus though eh ;)

I have some prescription Oakleys. I managed to damage them and my opticians got them fixed for free, hope you get as lucky.

Re: Militant shouters

Having ridden on that path myself, it is fairly wide in some parts. Nothing wrong with doing 20 in the right places. The OP clearly stated that that there wasn't anyone around. So long as you don't do that speed on the cattle grids and you stay alert, I don't see a problem ;)

Well saying a bicycle collided with two cars would sound a bit extreme. I don't think it is a change. When it's one car, they will go back implying blame on the cyclist.

Don't know anything about either but Brake seem to be very stereotypical of the average young male driver

Re: Wheeling bikes on footpaths

So if I am on a shared footpath which then ends. "Cyclists Dismount". I am not allowed to wheel my bike further. I must throw down my bike to continue or go back the way I came?
