Re: The best time of year to buy a new bike
those bikes (planet x) look terrific deals, I am sure they are, lightweight, fun ride I imagine.... but I am saying I would make sure some of the kit is what you want; some of the spec is what makes the bike relatively 'cheap' ...I wouldn't want the wheel-set for instance, thats my opinion.

Re: The best time of year to buy a new bike
although that said, the likes of planet x (see above) and Ribble seem to offer a pretty good carbon / 105 or ultegra or equivalent deal year round though I cant vouch for the goods myself and would pay attention to wheels, chainset, brake calipers and finishing kit you get at that price.

Re: Rim Tape
I only use the self adhesive cloth tape ( ie:velox) and when applying try to get a good tight tension but certainly not over stretched. I am careful to use the correct width for the rim and make sure it gets laid absolutely dead centre, quickly re-applying it if not going down centrally.... and I do...

Re: How to use dry lube
I bought a dry lube with PTFE yesterday to try for the first time too. (Muc-off) It is for a new chain and the advice is to degrease the chain first, but is that really necessary given a new chain? I expect i will be told it is but would also welcome any comments re. this type of lube. I have the s...

Re: Don't forget you know who - Sunday
I love Eurosport because they show TONS of cycling! I can watch it on TV (though 'buffering' can be a problem here) my PC and my phone! Also you can watch most events for many days afterwards, in full or fastforward through it. Of the other sports they show you get a fair amount of tennis and they a...
