Re: Are groups dangerous?

It is easier with a bigger group of already experienced riders to induct a newbie into the mysteries of group riding, harder for a leader(s) to lick a larger group of newbies into place.

As the quote, but the leader should always check for newbies at the start of a ride & run through the etiquette with them, so that they have some idea of how they should ride/behave/act within the group.

Re: Wiggle

Since I started using Wiggle, 2 years ago, I've only had one problem, & that was solved amicably.
They sent the wrong mudguards, credited my account, & I re ordered & they sent the correct ones & said I could keep the others.
So, all in all, I've had good service from them.

Re: Netbook + bluetooth GPS

If you are going to use a netbook, I suggest replacing the hard drive with an SSD, they use less power & boot up very much quicker!!

(Just fitted an SSD to my laptop; only takes seconds as against almost a minute with the old drive.)

Regarding to power for the netbook; probably a good idea to get a second battery for it.

So, you can see that there wouldn't be much savings in weight or bulk over using ordinary maps.

Re: The N+1

It's a terrible habit, collecting bikes, I ended up with eleven when I moved, & that was after throwing the 'old ones' out!

I am now down to a reasonable 4 (or is it 5), but still keep on looking at new ones, they are tempting, but I can hold out........

Re: Inner tubes, 700C and 650B

I used to use smaller sized inner tubes regularly, (they being pre 'blob' type valve stems), until the valves started to come out of the tubes!

But I would still be happy if the difference was only slight, 5~6mm.

If you use bigger tubes in smaller tyres, you may find the quality of the ride suffers.

Re: Cycle Magazine Online

Just found this thread......

As a life member, only recently with a broadband connection, I would be happy with an online, down loadable mag.
However, there probably are still quite a few members still happily staying in the dark ages, what about them?
Obviously they can't respond here.

Re: Survey for Ride Leaders about non-member rides

Been a member of CTC since the 70's, life member since 80's; only recently got broadband, & now I find the Clubs Rules are being discussed in public!!!

Some one some where is an idiot! Maybe it's me for thinking this is a member's club.

There should be a secure section for members only, by entering membership number, as a minimum.

Still , I don't expect anyone, or at least, of consequence will even see this. These things are always left hanging about after the time period designated to them.

I joined to ride my bike in the company of like minded people, that's why I'm a life member.

Re: Magazine Survey.

Everything except my actual post, & it's replacement, has got through!
It can't be my browser, or my connection, otherwise they would not have got through.

I'm not a newbie; I don't post on here very often; but this is peculiar behavior to me.

@Edwards
But how can three get through, whilst the other two posts don't?

That is why I think something is going on!

(It proves that it is not at my end)

My ACTUAL POSTS are NOT GETTING THROUGH, however this conversation seems to be.

Now that to me seems very much like censorship!!!

@Si
>>When you posted did you actually see your post on the thread, or on pressing the 'submit' button did the post just not appear?

Having waited, & refreshed my browser several times, it did not appear in the thread.

Have now just been able to post here.

My posts don't appear to be getting through, is this thread being censored.
