i suppose that failures in new kit are suppressed as much as possible! i remember 10s chains initially being fairly unreliable.

don't tell me they'll go to 12 sprockets one day soon.... :shock:

OT but the hot weather seems to encourage all manner of potential chris froomes on all manner of steeds during my recent commutes. the packs of BMXers that accelerate madly over five yards then run out of gears/puff seem especially popular this year! (ps these get scalped on a 631 road bike usually ...

slotting a hub flange

does this significantly weaken the integrity of the flange?

i have access to a new rear hub which has been slotted for 'razor' spokes. if it is built for 'normal' road use with normal spokes would it be substantially weaker in long term use?

i'm not sure if they're still available but continental did a tyre 'set' called attack/force a few years ago where the front and rear tyres were specific to their 'jobs' - the rear having a slightly bigger volume. i suppose that it has some effect, just not sure how much. I had a pair of them. Didn...

the hub should be okay. it has about 3000 miles on it an i can honestly say it's never even been mildly damp! will check the rim but it's equally 'new' so i'd be unlucky i should think....!!

as a rear wheel of mine has just started to creak does the above tip mean apply to the eyelet by removing the rim tape and going from that direction?
