Re: Olympic TTs

I see the press are bigging wiggo up again. I'm not so convinced when he is up against the likes of Cancellara and Martin....guess it depends on how much they are both still hurting from their crashes/injuries and how much Wiggo took out of himself in the RR. And Froome might be a bit of a dark hos...

Re: Which tyres for my former road race bike?

it's the old trade off between grip and longevity. vittoria open pave grip well but the tread does cut yes. i find gatorskins hardly cut but sliiiiiide unpredictably on wet corners as they are hard.

Re: Which tyres for my former road race bike?

Vittoria Open Pave Evo CG 24c

SCHWALBE Durano Plus Rigid 23 or 25c

SCHWALBE Marathon HS368 25c

25-30mph with brakes full on?!

what do you estimate your top speed to be before the brakes were applied?

Re: Sirius/Frank Clements

i have it on good authority that their marketing & promotional skills outweighed their frame building by some distance. a frame a friend had built by them years ago required three attempts to get the correct dimensions. that can't be good for cashflow.

Re: the forum's oldest bike part still in use

It may not be the oldest but may have covered the most miles - my Dawes supergalaxy tandem, 21 years old and 105,000 miles and still on the original front wheel (weinmann alesa rim like a previous poster) and Shimano deore gear mechs (rear has had a couple of sets of new jockey wheels) :D ay up! th...

the forum's oldest bike part still in use

riding in this morning i thought about how old my hope rear hub is. i reckon it's 15 years old now and is on it's third rim. never been serviced and has been ridden in all sorts of weather. still spins well. now that got me thinking...it's fairly old given today's throw-away kit but i reckon it's a ...

Re: fillthathole.org website

i tend to agree with gaz here. although i've filled in the report i think any inspector will deem it "according to spec" and file it unfortunately. the mail danger is being forced to the left to within a footor so of the kerb. the majority of drivers edge out of the side street (all side s...

'springing' a rear stay

i'm sure this has been asked before but how readily will a 130 OLN rear fit into a 531 frame built to 126mm?

my feeling is that this is generally okay.. :?:

Re: Strange feeling from my rear wheel

what gear are you pedalling to be still making a significant contribution from the pedals at 40mph+ downhill? 53 or 54/11?

my first feeling would be that it's a worn chain placed under duress with the load involved as it's on the right hand side.
