Re: Hoods for Shimano Dura-Ace MA-100

Thanks for your reply, may end up going with those but they're such a horrendous orange. Gah! Maybe some other people have suggestions?

Hoods for Shimano Dura-Ace MA-100

Hello hello hello! I'm wanting to swap my current Cane Creek brake levers for some Shimano Dura-Ace MA-100 's as they'd be period specific to the bike. I have the levers ready to go but no hoods. Can anyone recommend any that would fit? Gum would look great but other colours would do I'm sure. There...

Re: How many people carry a spare tyre when touring?

I always take a 4" section of old tyre to slip in just in case I get a large slash along with a selection of patches etc. Much lighter than a whole tyre! As you say, you can always nip in to a bike shop and get a new one :D

Best trainers for a town runaround bike?

I use LOOK pedals on my racers and SPD shoes give me cramp. Any ideas on what trainers/sneakers have a sole stiff enough to make sure I don't get horrendous foot cramp? I find vans way too thin and I don't like the look of 5:10's. Any ideas??

Re: Are many Brooks saddles stolen in the London area?

I was musing to myself and came up with a rather quaint solution to the stolen brooks saddle problem. If you have an allen key bolt on your seatpost why not fill the hex key indent with something like bluetack or something that can be removed with relative ease and paint it and the bolt with silver ...

Re: Bike locks

I have a Kryptonite new york fahgettaboudit lock. Never had my bike nicked and I've had a fair few stolen which have been locked up previously. Basically, you get what you pay for. The NY lock is heavy as hell but it's gotta be if it's made from tough to cut materials. Also, beware the mini lock, It...

Titanium lock

Now this sounds great, but in practice is it really as tough as they are claiming? Is titanium really that resistant to cutting? I'm not expert on metals but would appreciate some input and maybe get a view chins wagging

Re: Shimano shimano br-mt60 correct set up??

Thanks for the pics gaz. On my tourer the arms end up being almost horizontal, this means that the cable 'bows' a lot before any real tension is reached if the yoke is positioned low. Could maybe go for thinner pads which would bring the angle up? Rode the bike today and the braking seemed ok as is ...

Shimano shimano br-mt60 correct set up??

Hello everyone. I'm having trouble setting up these brakes satisfactorily. Can't seem to get the cable tension to be responsive enough. Is there a knack to doing so? I've found that by having the yoke much higher than usual helps but have read there is a 'trick' to getting them super tight. They hav...

I was slightly surprised by this too. A reinforced loop or two strategically placed to attach a light wouldnt have gone a miss.

Re: Capes / ponchos and front lights - barrier to visibility

Thanks for all your responses guys. I'm really looking for something a bit longer than these, maybe 30cm or so? I think a trip to the local DIY store with my imagiantion would probably be able to give me a bit more choice and may end up cheaper too. It's amazing what you can do with a bit of thick p...

Re: Capes / ponchos and front lights - barrier to visibility

http://www.spacycles.co.uk/products.php?plid=m2b0s169p1102 Just up the road from me too! Would that work with a front rack boss? Bit low really but much better than nothing i guess. I was thinking about some sort of extension that attaches on to the front bar that drops down and pops up on the othe...
