Re: Nice...

...I think the vaya travel is probably the apex of that product line. 8) The Vaya travel was always going to be niche, good niche granted but still niche,ie;how many people do you know with S&S couplings? It's most likely only the long(flight) haulers who consider such things,so it could never h...

Re: Finding and using a "rat bike" for commuting

There also used to be a green cooperative somewhere near de vere street I think it's called that used to do up donated and recovered bikes to sell on. They also ran maintenance training courses and sold a few bits too. Can't remember the name now and I think they folded a few years back. Freewheele...

Been wondering about the ref, and just saw these-

So indeed 'almost' Alice clearances, but not quite there, as these are too wide!

Re: Nice...

Getting worried R2. I think you're turning into a Genesis convert. Already troubles me that Keep Pedalling went Genesis when Salsa had a tiff with Ison and went without a UK distributor. At least they're still Surloids. I just think Genesis bikes have a look that's 'not quite right', and all their b...

Re: New version of Spa tourer being offered

I. . . . am re-barring that bike at the mo. I dread to think what that is ?? I thought rebar ( reinforcing bar ) is what goes under wet concrete to make it strong in tension. Would that be your concrete bike ? EDIT : Got it !! Handlebars  Certainly not a light bike! Trying once again to get th...

Re: Nice...

Just saw frameweight is 3.88kg for a medium. Surly Ogre is 2.693 (calc from 5lb 15oz) for a 20"... but, that is with fork, and am not sure for Ogre. The Ogre fork alone weighs 1.4kg uncut, but does have a lot more mounts as well as canti/V brake and disc mounts. ECR the same weight, but no cant...

Re: New version of Spa tourer being offered

...I think Spa have been producing "their own" chainrings for sometime. They have a wide tooth selection and are comparatively cheap, although I haven't tried one. I've got four on the go,but not enough mileage on them to vouch for their longevity, though they are very well engineered,almo...

Re: Finding and using a "rat bike" for commuting

'Furniture Matters', a local charity is selling more and more bikes lately, usually a few on ebay. They're just near White Lund, knowing you're local to this neck of the woods. I suspect they get what gets extracted from the Salt Ayre 'recycling centre', but if all is fine, not an issue. Ebay certai...

Re: Nice...

New Genesis Vagabond(Fargo-alike) :) The geometry is slack and almost Alice in Wonderland clearances are huge :) and it's available in a frameset only option to be built up as a go anywhere expedition bike,It should go far(see what I did there). Will it become a classic? The link to the bike:- http...

Ok, so looking at it on my phone, but... So... You say Fargo a-like, so what makes it better than that, or Surly Ogre, Krampus, ECR... ? Just askin' like.

Re: New version of Spa tourer being offered

Sorry to drift (as usual), but just looking about, I see they're offering a flat bar version of the Ti adventure bike now. Is that new also? http://www.spacycles.co.uk/products.php?plid=m1b0s21p3108 The forks look identical to the Surly Troll ones, are they those? Not listed as such, but... And look...

Re: New version of Spa tourer being offered

Shame the cable-ties ruin the pic for me. And that coiled cable going straight up from the light/front brake to the handlebars. http://www.spacycles.co.uk/smsimg/17/3354-11377-main-_dsc3102-17.jpg Am guessing this may be what we saw the underside of in a post by Colin recently. Have Spa been doing t...

Re: 10sp Single

So what about 1x11 set-ups then, with an 11-42 at the back? Wouldn't that be worse? Although it's becoming big now in the MTB world seemingly.

As for noisy, those MTB types have a thing for noisy hubs. Urgh. :(
