These look interesting; http://www.schwalbe.com/files/schwalbe/userupload/Images/Produkte/_2016/schwalbe_g_one/_detail_g_one.jpg http://www.schwalbe.com/gb/offroad-reader/schwalbe-g-one.html Look to be a 2016 model though, and no sign of them online yet that I can see. Listed at Bike24 (http://www.s...

Re: Steed Advice: 2017 California to Maine

Or what about the Marin $ Corners. Looks to tick all the boxes. On assuming that IRC means '4' Corners, it does indeed look interesting. Some here doubt it's values, but I have been tempted by these. I started a thread regarding them. Good price. http://forum.ctc.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=9653...

Re: Louis Garneau LGS-GMT

Dunno about the bike, but I won't click the link- I remember from visits to Thailand Pantip Plaza in Bangkok being a 'Mall' known for cheap electronic goods and more notoriously pirated software and other media (CDs, DVDs, VCDs, etc.). Often the products coming with the added bonus of malware, virus...

Re: Sturmey Archer 8 speed - grease to oil conversion

Thanks Brucey... Bit confused still, but am about to go out and clean'n lube them after a weekend of riding all weathers (and bloomin' cobbles, aaagh!), so will have a closer look at them and listen/feel the hubs and decide if it is just me being a delicate-eared wally.

Re: Sturmey Archer 8 speed - grease to oil conversion

Was about to post a response to Brucey elsewhere about gear oil to quieten a Brompton, and then saw this thread. Hmmm, so been looking for info on servicing a BWR hub and they all talk about grease being replaced or replenished during a major service and nothing about oiling a hub. Any thoughts folk...

Re: TRP cable actuated hydraulic brakes, thoughts?

These beauties are getting rave revues as the best solution for Road bike use, lightweight, sturdy, self centering and self adjuating they seem to be the answer to pug ugly hydro brake levers. You saying those Heath-Robinsonesque (Rube Goldbergesque for USAians) clunky compromised beasties that awk...

Re: Are Bicycle Quarterly on to something, or on something?

Such a fandangler of a topic... I am tending to agree with R2 here, in that 26 and 700 are such grey areas, considering tyre widths pretty much fill the gap between the 2, and such an addition to the market (yes, it is a historical size, but get real, it's an addition) just dilutes the stock of LBS'...

Re: What makes a bike fun?

When it doesn't make any noise, at all! +1 for that! It helps, but still enjoy my Brompton, even if the SA hub makes a blooming racket, clicking like a locust swarm, and the sprung Brooks (Mme's cast-off) creaks like the Mary Celeste! 1. This is essentially a ti version of a salsa vaya . Its a larg...

Re: Surly Disc Trucker Front Rack

I would get an electric paint stripper on that, and "form" the 'guard. I like the idea, thanks Colin. Probably need to try a hairdryer though as we don't have one. My mudguard is attached to the middle fork boss on the inside of the fork. The rack is on the outside of the middle fork boss...

Re: rohloff paddle shifters

I had a go on some a few months ago, and actually it's the only time I've tried a Rohloff. Found them a bit confusing cos I am used to shifters like this doing something different... to push on to go up and the other to go down is probably intuitive if you don't have pre-installed gestures in your b...

Re: Surly Disc Trucker Front Rack

This will have to do for now... StragRMG1sm.jpg Not ideal, but as good as I could sort this pm. Fitted one pannier to check it still goes on. Some shame about the rattiness of the rack. At the front mech it's a bit of a canine's catering calamity though- StragStMG1sm.jpg In order to attach the guard...

Re: Surly Disc Trucker Front Rack

............ In the case of Ian's pic, I'd suspect the stays would be a real challenge to get around the caliper, ruling out Tubus' choice of the rack mount on the rear. I think you get a straight run if you mount the 'guards outside the carrier, I don't know that you would get them inside at all. ...

Re: Surly Disc Trucker Front Rack

Frustratingly, there are only 2 bottle mounts on the Vaya 'Travel'. Harumph. And on the Straggler, being teeny squit size, I had to mount the seat tube one using a bodge, cos a large bottle wouldn't fit. And we're not bladder users, so a frame bag simply wouldn't work on that. We're not heavy duty c...
