Re: Buying Advise “Smart Turbo Trainer”
Alternatively, you could get a power meter for your bike and use a standard turbo. I picked up a cheap Stages crank on eBay for mine. That way you’d have power on the road as well ( if you like that sort of thing )

Re: Viscount bicycles!!
Few snaps of my Metro 3 £50 eBay bargain. It’s in great condition for 39 years old.

Re: Viscount bicycles!!
Very nice, looks like an Aerospace to me. Don’t know if it’s a Sport or a Pro. Looks like it has the original “Death Fork” as well. You’d do well to check which version of fork it is before you do too many miles on it. Version 3 is generally considered safest, but it’s up to you how much you want to risk a 40 year old fork that had a slightly notorious reputation.

Re: Viscount bicycles!!
After years on searching, I’ve recently picked up this rather nice Metro 3 speed. Better pictures to follower.

Had an unofficial New York based Death Fork Rally with Triitout this afternoon. I’m on holiday in New York and he kindly let me use his Sport for a ride along Jones Beach on Long Island.

Apparently they are worth good money to a bee keeper, sometimes over £100.

Re: Favourite Museums
I found a great museum on Saturday, RAF Tangmere. The appearance from outside was of a handful of huts, I said to a friend that it won’t take long to get around. I was very wrong, it’s crammed with fascinating exhibits and lots of hands on exhibits.
Here’s me on the Lightning simulator:

Re: Greatest Post War PM
Thatcher changing housing from a basic social need to a middle class investment opportunity has been a social timebomb. I really believe that many of our problems today have a link to this.

I think you’re thinking of the 2002 remake of the Time Machine:

Hence, the movement to stop reproducing is an own goal.
+1
So the answer to overpopulation is more people?
Because they'll figure out how to fix water tables, remove pollution, prevent crashing eco systems, prevent over-consumption, invent low energy transport systems, fix global warming and the endless list of other stuff.
There's more than enough intelligent people having intelligent babies already without needing more.
I rather think that most children will simply grow up into even more consumers whining endlessly because someone told them they can't have inefficient light bulbs or vacuum cleaners or as much meat as they can stick in their traps in one sitting.
There's been no new ideas on fixing what's wrong for decades - perhaps there simply isn't scientific fix that allows us both the breed like bacteria on a petri dish and consume at an ever increasing rate whilst simultaneously allowing us to fix what's wrong.
However low population is certainly a potential fix although unfortunately most likely brought about by fighting over what little remains.
Look how the far right rises as times harden, this is a fundamental property of human behaviour.
As climate change bites and things run out expect more of the same, the willy waving of nationalism will become the war cry of nations determined to get the last dodo before they're all gone.
So far there's no evidence our civilisation will be any better than those that went before it and with so many to support and so much technology required to support it when it finally goes it's going to be one hell of a bang.
The general scientific consensus is that the 1.5 degree global temperature rise limit is next to impossible to achieve, we'd have to start now and really go for it.
Two degrees is almost impossible, again we'd have to start now and be fairly serious.
Three or four degrees is most likely attainable but the models suggest this could push us over the tipping point (the point at which we might be able to fix it), which will see unstoppable sea level rises along with mass climate migration and significantly less land mass for everyone to live in.
Now we could hope that one of the babies born today will fix this - but unfortunately they'll still be teens by the time it's too late so I'm not sure how that'll work...
I’ll go along with that. Our amazing ability to use up resources at ever increasing rates seemingly proved Malthus wrong. I’ve a feeling we’re about to hit the buffers though.

Re: Corbyn to be PM within 6 months?
Actually, I don’t have a problem with increasing tax and properly funding the NHS and public services. It’s more his world view, he seems to come from that particular group of 60’s Vietnam era lefties for whom America ( and by proxy Israel ) is the greatest enemy we face. I think his foreign policy would be a disaster.

I’m hoping that the young Momentum element will stop paying their membership fees when they don’t get their glorious revolution at the next election. Then maybe more moderate members will be able to have more of a say in policy and leadership. I’ve actually joined recently in the hope of adding my vote to this cause.

Good idea, I’ll give it a go. I didn’t realise they “fired”, sounds excellent thanks.
