Re: How long before you got up to speed?

It took me around 3-4 weeks to really feel the 'bent advantage. Mind you that's 25 miles a day commuting and I learned on a Bacchetta Strada with open cockpit, probably one of the easiest to learn on. After a month I was trouncing road bikes, and even took a group of club riders on the flat which wa...

Velo video.

Just realised I've never put a vid up of the old Borealis in motion. Planning to do an ultra high speed 'fly by' but as my Brother is up this weekend and was itching for a ride.....Didn't realise how loud the turn signal beep was, but it does serve the dual purpose of being a friendly warning beep f...

Re: tryker

Thanks guys, on the whole you seem to be in favour of them, so I've ordered one for the front and if I like it I'll go for the two rear in the new year. Had to read that twice......keep forgetting we don't all ride tadpoles! I tried trykers, but they didn't last very long and seemed to have cuts al...

Re: Track rod ball joints

A few months ago I replaced the cruciform on the QNT, and also the ball joints. Ice asked me for a pic of the old ones, and though they didn't sell the originals any more, I was assured the replacements were correct. There was some play, but no more than the originals. I didn't measure the tolerance...

Re: Christiana trike in the garage...

Are they cable brakes? Mine is hydraulic, and has a mall bolt that simply swings round to keep the lever in lace. The cheapest and easiest hand brakes are a trick from recumbents A velcro "cinch strap" http://speedtechinternational.com/images/sce/AKD_2829.jpg Simply apply round brake and ...

Anyone selling a Ventisit seat pad?

My new addition, a Metabike only has a rubbery seat cover. Comfy, yes, but after 10 mins it feels like a heated seat. If anyone has a Ventisit for a hard shell seat, I'm a-looking!

It's a long shot, but always worth a try before ordering a new one, cheers, Carl.

Re: work stand

Here's my workstand. It works like this - 1. Lay the frame on the ground and roll the trike onto it, from the back, until the cross beam touches it's stop on each side. Then lock the cross beam in place with the tabs. 2. At this point the rear wheel is resting on a transverse platform 3. Lift up th...

If you loosen the clamps, the bars rotate forward/back on the Trice and as the rod joints are on the underside they move the wheels slightly. I Thought Sprints were the same?

Re: How do you check the tracking on a velomobile?

To stop it all moving does it want a second position for the rear, do you roll the velo front and back, or move the jig without moving the velo? I measured the front, then turned the tubing 90 degrees, rolled her forwards over the jig, turned the tubing back, adjusted the tracking, repeat, repeat, ...

Re: How do you check the tracking on a velomobile?

Just made my own tracking tool, and it's now set up bang on with me sat in it. I should set a new downhill speed record tomorrow! http://i290.photobucket.com/albums/ll258/carlpanther/image_zpsojlp9bqw.jpeg http://i290.photobucket.com/albums/ll258/carlpanther/image_zpsqhmspobx.jpeg

Re: Ice Trice Borealis.

Yes it's a QNT. Although it would fit a Sprint with a narrow track. Very expensive, but you get a 500% increase in comments, "ooohhhs", "aaahhhs", "how much did that cost/did you make it/how fast does it go" etc etc. Plus people tend to film you as well. Sprint NT fram...

How do you check the tracking on a velomobile?

Just done a check over ready for work tomorrow after a 2 week break. Noticed that both tyres are low on the Borealis. Also a couple of flattened bald spots, with one being so low that the beading was showing. Obviously wear and tear happens, but I've only ridden it for 2 months/1,000 miles (tyres ne...
