Re: . . . why my pressurised aerosol cans keep leaking?

If the bottom of the can is swaged on it can develop a leak caused by corrosion or rust. Accelerated by the cold damp storage.

But a recent discovery has been the source of much chuckling. There's a Wallace & Gromit fan group, who specialise in spotting Aardman's characters humorous props. Both the human & the pooch are often shown reading books, all with amusing titles. Wallace usually reads something with a cheese-based pun, Gromit's are dog-based. Half the fun is spotting them, as they're often visible for a split second only.

I've been chuckling over them too.

Fromage to eternity

Brie encounter
How green is my cheese
Grated Expectations

To name just a few.

And the odd can of WG40 to lubricate things.

Re: the Rubbodraulic principle

Some of the early aheadsets didn't use compression rings just a minimal clearance top cover pressing on the upper race. They were prone to "knocking" if the clearance was anything less than miniscule. I resolved a knocking issue by using a thin "O" ring between the top race and it's hat. Similar principle to Bruceys idea. It may even be possible to use a fatter "O" ring instead of the compression ring. Perhaps someone could try it and report back.

Re: How's your weather?

That's not good. Stay indoors and a plug for helmets in your situation. Stay safe. We only had a few plant pots and the odd Wheely bin making a dash for freedom. I slept through it all but Swmbo and several of my neighbours were disturbed during the night.

Re: Would you buy a Tesla

You will have an increasingly difficult assessment to make as his fingers reach into various pies throughout the land. Several home battery installations rely on his Power Wall and i noticed the other day there were domestic led lightbulbs branded as Tesla. Trying to avoid his products will become increasingly difficult. :(

Re: Raleigh Merlin wheel size

Positron was Shimano's early foray into indexed gearing. It relied upon solid cables and the indexing took place in the rear mech with a crocodile tooth arrangement. Not very successful.
If you have the front freewheel system on the chainset then that's rare.

Re: Which side to fit bell…..

It's not difficult to have a remote bell rung from any convenient lever. This was common on tandems where the stoker was able to ring the bell mounted up front. Brake levers were often employed to operate the bell using a brake cable joining the pair.
Handy when the captain has his hands full.
