How about train to Portsmouth Harbour then ferry to France(Caen) then cycling round Normandy. I did this last August and had great fun. Not many hills as long as you keep largely to the coast

Can't comment on the 2007 Regent but have recently bought the 2008 model (58cm frame) and am very happy with it. Well made, pretty good equipment and gearing seems good for me as it fairly stonks along. Comfortable saddle, good rack. I replaced the toeclip pedals with my spds but that's a personal c...

Re Lights. I have bought a set of lights whereby only the front one is wound up. When it is placed in the handlebar unit it operates both front and back as it is attached to the rear light by a wire. I don't know if this is the same one you saw. However as I only bought it recently I haven't tried o...

Must be different on the Portsmouth Caen route. Yes the bike was secured with a piece of rope but with the motorcycles and because my knots weren't up to scratch the staff tied the bike more securely after I'd gone on deck. I am going on the St Malo route in August so thanks for the warning. Brian

I have had a number of cheap bikes over the years and even did a weekend in Normandy on a Probike Raptor last August. However with a view to a longer spell in Brittany this year I have purchased a Claud Butler Regent and although not that expensive (well it's all relative) I have to say it is a diff...

I cycled in Normandy last August (over the Bank Holiday weekend!!) and had a great time. I rode from the ferry port to a camp site in Luc Sur Mer and stayed there for the weekend taking trips out each day. I found the whole thing great fun. I used a large scale Michelin map in my handlebar bag and j...

Claud Butler Regent review

I am seriously thinking of purchasing this model but can't find any reviews or opinions.

Can anyone point me in the right direction please or does anyone have personal experiences they would be prepared to pass on?

Thanks in anticipation.
