Re: 4K cameras Road an bike

I've a usb port on my ebike battery and another usb port on the ebike display so I can run two cameras all day long without having to charge them at the end, however as I've only 1 camera, the other usb port supplies power to the gps unit so that doesn't run flat either.
Gotta love ebikes :D

I've been subject to this so I usually slow down and cover the brakes if one such vehicle passes me.

rjb is correct. Those trailers do actually exist.
They help in getting loads around tight corners in villages, bridges etc.

Imagine if you got a ball of string tangled in your bikes drivetrain or brakes. Instant death. Kittens should be obliterated from existence.

My comment was about the irrelevance of the evolutionary origins of dogs. Whether it's 90%, 100% or 0 from wolves doesn't help when faced with one.

Of course experience around them is very helpful in predicting what they might do next.

Jonathan
The trainer explained to me that the reason I and other dog owners must never forget the dogs ancestry is so we never forget it can kill us easily if it wanted to. For that reason alone, you absolutely must let it know who's in charge.
If one chases you, there's little point in trying to outrun it. My own Jack Russel/Staffy cross can do about 20mph.
As said earlier, stop, put the bike between you and it and shout at the bugger to show it you're the boss. Chances are it'll back down. Failing that, you're in a position to flatten it with the bike and pin it down. Rather that than have a chunk ripped from your arm or worse.

Agreed.
I had an ex police dog trainer teach me how to control my own dog. His advice was sound. He said all dogs regardless of breed were still about 90% wolf in their origins.
You must show the dog who's boss for it to respect you. Otherwise, you could be it's dinner.

Re: The best wheels ?

I've had sets of wheels from spa. The first were 26" sputnik rimmed. They were perfect in every way.
The second set were 700c and never stayed true. I stripped and rebuilt them myself and they were fine after that. The builder might have had a bad day.

Re: Can we challenge weak punishments from the poilce?

Cycle tramp is correct in that I was cycling stupidly close to the parked cars (something I do all too often) prior to the incident and does have a valid point in that the viewer can never know where exactly the camera is positioned on the bike.
The lens on my cam sits about 2 cm right of dead center due to the stem clamp and ebike display.

No can do I'm afraid. The email they send has been deleted as there no further use for it.

I am battling with Welsh police to tell people what action they take

Any chance you could edit out/delete your personal details and the references so we can see what they said.

Thanks

On reporting the incident, they said there'd be no further correspondence from the police until the court date if it went that far.
That they bothered to inform me of the warning letter was a nice surprise.

Re: Can we challenge weak punishments from the poilce?

I don't feel a warning letter is anywhere near good enough for close passes. As we all know, it only takes a twitch of the handlebar to end up under the wheels of a passing vehicle which is why we have the advised 1.5m passing distance.
I have to say though, the rider in that video didn't do him/herself any favours cycling that close to the kerb. That only encouraged the driver to overtake where there wasn't room.

Re: Are You DEAF?! (If so... I must learn BSL for "I'm terribly sorry!")

The airzound should never be used against pedestrians. It really is overkill.
I had one. Accidently used it instead of the bell. The chap I was about to pass nearly jumped out of his knickers. He saw the funny side when I apologised and explained what happened but it could have been so much worse.
If someone can't hear a bell, use your voice. :)

I think you’re brave to cycle in that traffic and, having had that near miss, think that if you can fit a left hand mirror then it would be wise to do so. When I rode motorbikes they got fitted with two mirrors and I found plenty of need for both.
That's a pretty normal day in Bolton. I'm used to it.
I know what you mean though. I wouldn't want to ride in Manchester or London etc.
