Bar-end shifters SL-BS50
I have a set of Shimano SL-BS50 bar end shifters I am hoping to use on my touring bike to replace the down-tube shifters currently fitted.
The bike is a 7 speed rear cassette with a triple front.
Having looked at the bar end shifters I have, when I operate the levers I can get five clicks, compared to six clicks on the down-tube levers currently fitted. Is this enough for 7 speed, or are these meant to be for a 6 speed set up or do two gears run in the last section when the lever is nearly vertical?
The only reference I can find to these shifters is here
http://www.fa-technik.adfc.de/Herstelle ... uppen.html
They seem to be part of the 1991 600 ultegra group set, suitable for 6 or 7 speed.
Any help greatly appreciated.

If people dont like it, dont speedThe problem with speed cameras is they cant tell the difference between respectable law breakers and bad criminal scum.
Don't see that there is a problem, either through ignorance, arrogance or stupidity someone was not in proper control of the vehicle - that makes prosecution in the public interest!
In fact we don't take sufficient warning that these offences give of in many cases aggressive or poor driving. We should be taking speed offences far more seriously and looking at why the driver was speeding.
I agree.
I took it the comment about camera's was being ironic

I just had re-fitting session with the dynamo and a bodge on the bracket until the new one arrives.
I have been out for a 15 mile lights on all the way ride in the rain. All went well except for a couple of times when the dynamo slipped after going through puddles.
One further question, how long should the replacable rollers last?

Bottle dynamos and tyre wear
Can anyone help with setting up a bottle dynamo?
I have a right hand ‘AXA HR’ bottle dynamo that I recently fitted to my bike. On the way home from work last night the bracket supporting the front light broke. Luckily I was able to stop before the light unit swinging freely by its wires smashed into the front wheel. I managed to hold the light unit by tucking it behind the canti-brake wires and managed to get home without to much bother.
Once indoors I taking the generator off the bike as I realised I am unlikely to get a replacement bracket locally, when I noticed quite severe tyre wear from the dynamo on the tyre wall. As I bought the unit second hand there where no instructions, but I am thinking I may be setting it up with to much pressure on the tyre.
Is there any on-line set up guides or anyone with similar problems solutions?
By the way, I have dome no more than 200 miles of dynamo riding since fitting the dynamo, so nothing excessive.

I know this isnt strictly what you are asking, but it is related to buying a Dawes.
We had been looking at a new touring bike and where going to buy a Galaxy untill we saw the warranty info.
Long gone are the days of a lifetime warranty, its now 5 years for a steel frame, 3 years for aluminium.
Not sure what Thorn offer warranty wise, but in the end we went for a Ridgeback Panorama.
