Hi Keith, we should keep in touch. I'm staying in the warrington area around the 12 May (can't remember off top of my head).

Warrington B&B

Can anyone recommend a pit stop in the Warrington area? I'll be coming up from YHA Leominster, and travelling onto Penrith. Cheers!

I'm starting on 9 May, and going solo. I've booked up some YHAs in advance (like Lands End and JoG). Don't forget the independent YHA organisation, I've booked up two places through them. I personally like to book in advance as it gives me a target. I usually write out my routes in a little book, an...

Hey Vernon - it was puncture resistance/wearability. I don't normally use such thin tyres and am comfortable using Marathon tyres on an old Super Galaxy. Travelling on an audax bike will be a new experience, which I hope will be for the better. I guess I just wanted reassurance that a new pair of Bl...

Tyres for LEJOG

Hi guys
I'm using a Dawes Audax Supreme for my LEGOG. I've currently got Schwalbe Blizzard Sport tyres on it, and wondered whether anyone had views about their suitability? I'm doing the ride in 10 days, in May, and going up the west coast route. Any recommendations?

As an addendum I did buy the Sustrans pack of routes at the last Cycle Show in London, but can't find the blessed thing anywhere now! So if anyone has got the Sustrans Scottish routes are they very helpful?

Western route through Scotland

Can anyone pass on recommendations for roads to avoid and take when cycling up the western side of Scotland to JoG? I haven't fixed my route, but my last stop in England will probably be in the Penrith area, and had thought to stop in the Kilmarnock part of Ayrshire. I have booked accommodation at t...

Cheers guys, this has been most useful, and I think the first stage is safely mapped out thanks to you both! At some point I'm going to have a separate posting on roads through Scotland so if you've gone via Inveraray, Fort William, and Evanton to John O'Groats please feel free to pass your advice a...

Thanks

Many thanks Mick, appreciate it, and I'll email you more later (in work at mo). By coincidence I had just starting thinking of stopping in Okehampton rather than Tavistock on my first night. If that was the case, would it make sense to use the A30 after all? Just using the AA journey planner I recko...

A390?

I don't have a road map with me, but was thinking of using A390 via Truro, St Austell, Liskeard, and onto Tavistock. Not sure if that is the route you say, but will be sure to take your advice as the fewer hills I do down there the better it makes me feel - cheers for the recommendation as well :D

LEJOG B&B recommendations

I'm working out a route, not difficult thanks to the CTC pack, and I'm thinking of stopping in the following vicinities: Tavistock, Shipham, Hereford, Warrington, Penrith, Kilmarnock, Inveraray, Fort William, and Evanton. I shall use the hostels at Penzance and John o'Groats. Can anyone recommend an...
