Re: Hydrogen Vehicles

The lack of vision for change(or should that be charge?)is incredible. Its not lack of vision, its realism developed over 40 years designing making and delivering machines and equipment that works and keeps on working reliably all over the world in mines, quarries, power stations, chemical plants, ...

Re: Hydrogen Vehicles

Discussing all this in the pub garden yesterday evening, it was pointed out to me that solar panels have a limited life-span as they degrade over the years and become less efficient. Newer ones are better than older ones, but they will all degrade. Some are 25years old now and produce less than 50%...

Re: Hydrogen Vehicles

There is no way these could be electric vehicles. How do you work that out? Is there a petrol station on every street now? If not then why do you need chargers on every street? Just because it's possible to "fill up" at home doesn't mean you have to. In most places there are public charge...

Re: Ortler Pedelec Review

And al, in Devon we crimp our pasties at the side, I believe some of those odd Cornish folk crimp them on the top. Erm no, lived in both counties now, and in Cornwall it's deffo crimp at the side. Devon varies but it's usually at the top. Our Fore Street butcher sells handmade side crimped Cornish ...

Ortler Pedelec Review

After recently moving to Devon my cycling horizons became seriously compromised. I havent had to get off and walk in years, but a plethora of 20%+ gradients around here made me do it. So, I thought Electric bike! After reading a few reviews and posts I decided to buy a Pedelec. The German manufactur...

Re: Hydrogen Vehicles

If a family has two cars it makes great sense to have a conventional car for long journeys and an electric one for local journeys thus solving the range and charging problem. I live in a town woth tortuous backstreets lined with parked cars. There is no way these could be electric vehicles. Until ba...

Horizon, its just another example of lip service as everyone is well aware. Collectively everything is getting worse and worse. Future generations will probably suffer immensely. I shall be ashes...

Re: Well I never...the hipsters steed!

I suggest the non believers look up 'bending moment' and try to imagine what the offset does especially on a gently tapering steel tube. My old Giant with its straight fork was an uncomfortable dog in comparison to the Mercian

Re: Well I never...the hipsters steed!

I agree with Mick. Mercian forks are tapered as well as beautifully curved down below. Both these things take out the constant jarring and thudding which one experiences from brutal non compliant straight forks. Straight forks are cheap to manufacture, nasty and uncomfortable. Ride a Mercian and fee...

Re: Ortler and Bikester

Ortler looks interesting and if hire companies use them they must be good. So on that basis I ordered this https://www.bikester.co.uk/739018.html Anything with the Bosch drive system I have heard must be efficient and reliable. The different specs seem to be only more gears or supposedly better anci...

Re: Diabetes

At one point I killed my type 2 diabetes completely by losing weight and cycling. I think the exercise is the key thing in holding the disease back. So my advice is keep cycling and climb plenty of hills.

Re: Tory leader - place your bets

What an underwhelming debate, very badly chaired and controlled. Boris was awful, Rory blathered. Gove seemed to get his pitch across, Hunt came across as a nonenity, Javid seemed focussed. But, its not up to us is it, its up to the blue rinse and red trouser brigade? Lord help us!
