Re: Gulls

Well inland here the blighters nest on the adjacent church tower attracted by the muppets in the town that feed them. Result is a squawking fest at 4.30am on summer mornings, most unwelcome in our single glazed old pile. Insomnia! We have tried this.... https://youtu.be/8okPzxAjl0c with no visible r...

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

I believe that a lot of these employers are simply crying wolf. Al I think it's a bit more complicated than that and I suspect the first place to look is the supermarkets... Having worked closely with the supermarkets for 7 years I am well aware they do control the market. But the situation isnt ri...

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

Seems like R2 is for urging a race to the bottom in the pay league exploiting poor foreign workers. Just what we dont need. Then you get what we have around here, weekly buses from Eastern Europe, rock bottom wages, whole families living in one room and sky high rents for squeezed out local people. ...

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

They seem to be very happy with their contracts, I'm not, I would rather see them in some sort of decent career. If you saw QT last night some Zero hours folk in the audience seemed very happy with them. Which is what I have heard from others too. Al Useless degrees, in what? In my time they would ...

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

I have two grandkids with useless degrees one in a shoeshop and one in a factory shop, both on zero hours contracts, it makes me weep. Al Hang on, not that long ago you were singing the praises of zero hour contracts! Presumably they're OK for other folk but not for you and yours? They seem to be v...

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

You see, Al, this is directly personal. An insult even Wasn't meant be offensive or an insult. I apologise if you feel it was. I was just pointing out to you what I observe from my discussions with all sorts of people. Many of Corbyns policies are on the face of it very popular but the voting publi...

Re: Remainers Angst thread

Spinners, perhaps this forum should make it easier for Remainers. How about providing a "never said or meant" button where Remainers can write any old abhorent views or dubious statements and then automatically attribute them to any Leave voter that dares to post anything here, thus kicki...

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

People fear a Corbyn collapse of the economy and losing their jobs and homes. Do they fear that because they understand Labour policies, or because they've read that these will be the consequences? There seems to be no reason to believe a Corbyn government would collapse the economy, beyond the eff...

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

I was in Chile not that long ago, its democratic now, seesawing between Socialists and Capitalists although there is currently unrest amongst the poorest over fares etc, just like Brazil. Argentina is about to embrace Peronism again because Capitalism didnt work, but in Argentina nothing seems to w...

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

I beieve Labour MPs best bet is to vote for an early election. Corbyn says he will step down if Labour loses as it certainly will one way or another. So, its a dead cert way of getting rid of him. Thing is will he be replaced by another Marxist condemning Labour to oblivion?

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

Al - the UK government supports Saudi, as does the US government. I've never voted Labour in a GE although i would consider it. I would never vote Tory as it is. John, I know, it been like that for ever and I have always hated it. Its all based on selling them aircraft, weapons and services from th...
