Re: Can you hear something?

If you live in any town or village the usual spawn of the devil is angle grinders. At any time of the day particularly in the week when tradesmen are busy someone is using one of these things. Lawnmowers can often be a nuisance too. In Germany I believe there are bylaws regarding use of such devices...

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

People often leave well paid jobs to improve other aspects of their lives. Brexit is a bit like that. The so called experts continue to pour scorn on Brexit but time will tell. The 'experts' seem to have had a very chequered track record up to now.

Re: Can you hear something?

All I can often hear outside is the M5. The sound reflects off the house wall facing towards the motorway amplifying it. If the wind is blowing from the house towards the motorway the noise a distant hum. More water means more noise, greater fall means more noise. Something is amplifying the noise ...

Every year at the Goodwood Revival they have a parade around the track...Mods chased by Rockers (greasers), chased by coppers on LEs and then police in Ford Anglias etc wih blue lights. Unmissable! With the ...

And the rest, a nice Riley, Lagonda, Talbot, pre war Jags, all on the scrap heaps going for a song. Set of spanners etc and you could have them going. The ten year test marked the demise of all sorts.

Re: Any other motorcyclists here?

As an apprentice bought an Ariel 500 with girder forks to share with a mate.I started on my own with an Ariel Colt - awful 200cc thing. Went down the scrapyard and found a Rudge 250 with only 3 working gears. Stripped the gearbox and made several new components. Flogged it. Again down the scrapyard ...

Re: locks & bike security (touring)

It would be more interesting if people who had secured their bike with some sort of lock and had had it stolen explained what the thief had done...ie angle grinder, hacksaw, picked the lock or what? Picking most locks or removing combination locks is childs play. Please tell us, what happened to you...

Re: fake plastic £10 notes

I have 6 Falkland Islands round £s acquired on a visit there. They would accept UK round £s ok in the shop so I did a swap. I am wondering if they got new coinage with the faceted edge like us? If they didnt will they accept our new stuff and the plastic notes? Anyone been lately?

Re: Recycling Well I Never

Lets face it folks we need to go back to the Stone age and bump off most of the worlds population. Someone needs to put some agreed numbers on where we need to get to.
