Re: Netbook for touring

I was not an Apple fan until I got an ipad from work. I have an Android phone which is great. But, I have to say I love it. What strikes me most is the battery life. It lasts ages. My son has a cheap android tablet from Amazon and, although it does the job, the battery life is awful. Obviously an Ip...

Re: Dog walkers or horseriders?

I have nearly fallen off my bike at Llandegla due to people thinking it's ok to have their dog off the lead on a bike specific trail with them. Dogs on these sort of trails could cause a serious accident. These dog owners are stupid!!!!!!

Re: Carbon frames - who's got an old one?

They have only recently become more affordable, so I doubt if many people have an old one in any case.

Re: Triple v Compact

I was really pleased when I was able to get an Ultegra triple for my cube carbon road bike. We live in a hilly area, so it is much needed. Apparently they are more common on the continent ( where the mountains are bigger!) I would ignore the snobbishness and go with what suits you best.

Bung the food in in the morning (it really is minimal preparation (just chopping some veg, and adding some meat), and when you ge...

Re: Another insurance question

We have Direct Line insurance this year as was the cheapest. Bikes under £500 covered, and it cost an extra £25 to add on 2 bikes costing £1500 each. I asked about locks. She (lady on phone) said as long as you lock it to a fixed object or it is in a locked building or shed you are covered. Doesn't ...

Re: suggest me a child friendly weekend cycling destination

Derbyshire. The following campsite is next to the Monsal Trail. 10 miles to Bakewell, where you can have lunch. There are also other cafes, icecream stops en route. This is my favourite of all the Peak District trails, as it uses the old Monsal railway line, and all the tunnels have recently been op...

Re: Narrower tyres?

Will let you know width and height when I've put them on. Won't be for a while as I'm keeping the Marathons on until I've done the Manchester Liverpool 40 mile ride with my son. Don't want to risk getting a puncture when my 10 year old is with me! will be putting them on before I do the audax in Jun...
