Re: Help me be less mediocre!!
...Fish and chips in the park helped but I still felt weak and headachey... I drank two pints of water before leaving and two water bottles en route and was still feeling dehydrated..... So the amount of salt you had in the fish and chips had how much effect on your 'perceived' thirst? And I...

Re: Help me be less mediocre!!

Rest for 5 minutes and then get back on and ride it FLAT OUT as fast as you can for 20 minutes. Follow this with 5 minutes of cool down very light riding. Then eat 1 g of protein per kg of bod...

55Nm on an alloy crank? Hells teeth - you can't be far off stripping the thread? My motorbike wheel nuts were only 60Nm and that was 100bhp!

Why waste money on freak foods!
The BBC program 'Horizon' did an expose on exercise etc - and a pint of milk beat a whole load of (expensive) 'sport' drinks hands down. And I really like milk! Win Win

Re: softshell jackets?
The best warm/cool jacket thing I ever had is the BMW phase change jacket - It's come top in tests for warmth. It's windproof ish but not waterproof - but if you're that cold then you'll be in your sleeping bag.
If you go to a BMW bike dealers you'll see them. I'm not sure the car dealers do them?

Re: Do You Insure your Bike?
Mine are on the house insurance as named items. House insurance, it seems, is way more than what it says these days. For instance, I'm using mine to cover the legal fees for a motorbike accident I had!

I hardy diet of hard boiled eggs will a. Get boring fairly fast b. Win you few friends on the road But if you're looking long term, why not take a load of pickled eggs? They'll last indefinitely. And you'll be able to supplement your pedal power, albeit at the expense of some additional contribution...

Re: Trangia stoves
As all of my travelling these days is just me I've moved to a Jetboil. It's just so much better in every way to a Trangia. I buy those ' Look what we found ' meals and with a portion of rice get a tasty dinner in 10 minutes - all in the same pot. The foil bag meal heats while the rice is cooking. An...
