London Midland Trains You Could Not Make It Up
Travelled from birmingham to runcorn today with a bike and it was not very good to be honest, no cycle racks on the train anywhere. I had to wedge my bike near the doors and then secure it to the side handles near the train doors with a cable lock otherwise i would have had to stand up all the way and hold the bike. Only had to move the bike twice but the train was very packed and i had to get off once with the bike then get back on. The service was the 14.36 out of birmingham, god only knows what it must be like around teatime.

Re: Retail stores lack of cycle parking provision
You do not want to walk 100 yards yet you went to the store on your bike? You are having a laugh it contradicts the whole ethos of cycling which is exercise surely?

Re: Texting driver kills cyclist ...
Last week i saw a guy on a bike texting as he was cycling along with a child draped over the handlebars i kid you not, a young girl near me walked into a lampost whilst she was texting, i have had two young girls step in front of my bike off the pavement whilst texting and the creme de le creme was some young woman on a mobile phone ran into the back of a police car at the traffic lights, that really made my day to be honest. Mobile phone use and texting is like a heroin addiction to many young folk as they never ever have the phone out of their hand, a great many of them are even texting as they are sat having a meal. Do not hold your breath though as prosecutions for using a mobile whilst driving has halved in the last 5 years as police say they have not got the manpower to deal with it. They take a far more serious view on someone who drops a cigarette stump on the floor or crisp bag as these are seen as more serious offences than using a mobile whilst driving a motor car. We had an incident in bolton where a guy was eating a pastie on a bench and a seagull swooped down and snatched the pastie out of his hand and some of the pastie ended up on the floor just as a litter adolf hitler warden was walking past, the litter warden fined him £80 even after he explained what had happened and it was only after public outrage that the fine was dropped. I have a very simple solution to the menace of the mobile use by drivers, if they are caught using a mobile ban them from driving for life end of!

Re: Chain lube for off road use
The krytox is very clean to use and dries very quickly and if you touch the chain it is spotless, but the chain needs lubing very often and the lube does not last very long.

Re: Chain lube for off road use
Why does no one seem to use 3 in 1 oil? I used to use this on my raleigh chopper years ago and it seemed to last ages, lube today does not seem to last 2 mins compared to years ago, how many miles should you be getting after applying lube before it needs doing again? Thank you very much for all who have replied.

Anyone recommend a good chain lube that will last for a while for off road use in dry dusty conditions.

Nothing infuriates me more than folk bleating on about things that have nothing to do with the original post!

Greatest ever uk frame builder?
I went to a vintage cycle museum yesterday and when i got home it really got me thinking about who was the creme de le creme of british frame builders over the last 100 years. Would love to hear your thoughts on this subject, after some research on the internet i was in awe at some of the artistry and sheer quality and craftwork of some of the uk frame builders past and present.

Re: Poundland, Lidl
Well what else do you expect for a £1, the shop knows that no one can be bothered to take stuff back when they have only paid a £1 for it.
