Sorry yes, Deore rear with drop STIs.

Re: Shifters for Trekking bars?

Brucey wrote:it might help if you say what kind of mechs/cassette/chainrings etc you are using, whether you want/need indexed shifting at the front and/or the rear or not.

BTW if you mount some bar ends (climbing pegs) near the middle of the handlebar, you can (with a but of fiddling around) often use 'road' STIs attached to those, or perhaps to the ends of the trekking bars themselves. Interrupter brake levers (crosstops) can of course give you a second brake lever position.

cheers

Quite right Brucey, I should have given spec..it's below. I will add, that both front and rear cables go via down tube barrel adjusters, thread adjuster on front and click adjuster on the rear.

Shifters for Trekking bars?

Hi All,
I am going to try Trekking bars for a while and wondered which shifters would be best? I doubt I could use my STi drop shifters on them.

Thanks.

Re: Zyliss Smart Café

My coffee mug arrived yesterday and I have used it for every coffee and I like it. The bonus is, I have a Christmas cracker mini cheese grater and a separating knife with spoon and fork built in and it all fits inside with the lid keeping it all secure and saving that tiny bit of space.

That's fine, but I prefer not to.

Re: Zyliss Smart Café

I should add I use a Kelly kettle, so no need for the cup to be metal.

Re: Zyliss Smart Café

Good question. Mainly by replacing existing cup, which is heavier than the Smart Cafe, and I can have proper coffee with no extra paraphernalia.

Re: Zyliss Smart Café

Thanks buryman. I like the idea of proper coffee while on the road. I take it, it will work with loose tea too?

Zyliss Smart Café

Hi all,
doing a very short tour from where I live in France (just below Versailles) to Sandwich in UK (my home town) and back, in July. I am gathering utensils for food & drink at the moment and am trying to lighten from last tour. Has anyone taken one of these: Zyliss Smart Café on a tour? and if so how did it perform please? Link below.

Many thanks.

UniCycle88 wrote:I looked at these in Decathlon in person and was not too imoressed. Allthough Decathlon does have some good value gear for the price I did not buy these because they seemed too small and of too low quality.

They say 20L but are way smaller than say the Ortliebs that also say 20L/21L.

For £20 each the quality is about right. They feel cheap and the mounting mechanism at the bottom is velcro.

Thanks for the info. But as I went with the Vaude i am happy.

Just took possession of my new Vaude World Tramp bags. Very nice, lots of space and sit well, while feeling very secure.

Re: B'TWIN 500 Waterproof Rear Pannier Bike Bag - 20L

True about buying the hooks and I have Rixen Kaul front bags and know they sell the Klikfix hooks separately. But for the sake of £15 and the lack of hassle I am happy to have paid for the Vaude bags.

Re: B'TWIN 500 Waterproof Rear Pannier Bike Bag - 20L

Hi All,
I decided to go with the Vaude World Tramp H20s. I found a pair on Amazon (Germany) for €77.00 which is only €15 more than the B'Twin ones and twice the quality. I will still post photos of the B'Twin bags when I get them for others to see.

Re: B'TWIN 500 Waterproof Rear Pannier Bike Bag - 20L

Hi Andy,
thanks for the info. I have found out from the Decathlon UK community that the panniers are held on with Velcro straps! Which may go a long way to explaining why they have no photos of the back of the bags, hoping I suppose, that some will buy without asking. I am being sent some images today and will post them here when I get them. But it looks like I might give them a miss, which is a shame as the reviews are not too bad.

Thanks,
Simon.
