Re: Bike fitting: why? Why not?

I have four bikes, seat is set at the same height for all of them, I don’t worry to much about length as I use drop handlebars and move positions anyway. I find one much more comfortable than all the others, can’t really explain it. I recently tried the 109% method, which lowered my seat by about 25...

Re: Beware Ye Who Ride On Pathes in Lambeth

Is there an age cut off for this offence. My daughter lives in Streatham Lambeth. My grandson is 4.5 years old and cycles to school every day, using the footpath across the common and footpaths on the road.

Re: which Pump

Worth carrying a Presta to Schrader adapter, under £2. As well as a pump. You can then use a garage airline to get a reasonable pressure.

Re: Campagnolo Daytona gear alternatives

Hi Thanks for all the advice, most of my cycling is in the Cotswolds or Peak District hence the need for lowish gearing, men used to be men, when you see old pictures of the TdF the gearing for the mountain sections was eye wateringly high. I will price a few bits up, it may be not worth all the eff...

Campagnolo Daytona gear alternatives

I have seen a second hand bike I quite fancy. It has Campagnolo Daytona gears levers etc 9 speed dates from circa 2000. It is in pretty good condition. However I would need to alter the gearing, at present appears to have what I think is a 52/39 chainset In good condition ideally I would like 50/34 ...

Re: Cleats shoes pedals where to start ?

I'd recommend doublesided Shimano SPD M520 MTB pedals and shoes with either MTB or touring soles,Specialized or Shimano shoes are good. I see absolutely no advantage whatsoever of dedicated 'road' shoes and pedals. Completely agree, tried road shoes and pedals, no advantage as far as I could see, j...

Re: Looking for a bike to ride 15-20 km

My advice is find out what size frame you need. Then look on eBay try and find something you can collect. Look for a road bike that has had little use. As an example I had a quick look and found a 2014 Speciaized Allez done less than 100 miles 56cm frame, starting bid under£100.
