Re: How much YOU have spent This year on Bike related stuff?

Over the last year, maybe £15. A tube, 2 bells, 4 brakes blocks and some repair glue.

I have a few bikes but never bought one new since 1982.

I buy almost everything second hand if I can.

Re: It is earnestly to be hoped - we love the Guardian!

Why is ML better than the G? The Guardian are funded from advertising from big companies (who invariably have political agendas) and hence I feel they are compromised on their editorial. Media Lens are independent and get what funding they need from individual small contributions. In short, they do...

Re: It is earnestly to be hoped - we love the Guardian!

While the on-line version still has some good articles, the Guardian has become a shadow of it's former self, and has pretty much prostituted itself to large corporations for a few years now. Their love for Hilary Clinton and her war mongering ways really was the final straw for me and I will never...

Re: Best (light) 1 man tent

+1 on the Luxe. I have the Mini Peak II. But the one above in this thread is an even better one. Pretty light, well made, pitch the outer first and a sturdy tent in wind.

Re: Cheapish waterproof rucksack

I have an Exped one that is a great backpack, totally waterproof with roll top. I don't think it was dirt cheap, but maybe in the region of £25 new.

EDIT - apologies...just read that you've already bought one

Re: Thermarest pro not self inflating

The Pro versions have a very much cut about foam core, in the interests of lightness, and the strength of the expansion isn't that much even when new. If it's been used for a fair period inflating by mouth, combined with being stored rolled, I'm not that surprised it struggles. Older, heavier, mats...

Re: Thermarest pro not self inflating

Just bought it second hand and I suspect it was stored closed and rolled up. Literally nothing is going in from deflated when valve is opened. First time I did it by mouth, there was a noticeable crumple noise as if the air pockets had become a bit stuck. But it went up and stayed up no problem. I'v...

Thermarest pro not self inflating

Hi - as the title says, the sleep mat isn't inflating on it's own but will be blown up by mouth... Will a replacement valve sort this out?
Thanks in advance
