Re: To flash or not
In good conditions in bright urban areas I'll use one or perhaps two dipped front lights on steady light and only my rear light flashing.
In wintry conditions and dark roads I transfer one of those dipped lights to my helmet for POV lighting and increase the rear with an extra flashing light.
Front
Lezyne Macro Drive
Exposure Joystick w/ Redeye rear ext.
Rear
Lezyne Micro Drive
Cateye standard
Backup lights are Lezyne Femtos

I heard the cyclist was turning left also and may have slowed for some potholes. There is some very bad road surface there.

A driver may give a non helmeted rider more awareness than a geared up helmeted commuter.
What we do know is that theres a pattern of truck, cyclist and left turns that is not being addressed by our Cycling Czar or Bike mad mayor.

No but he still looks like a plonker with his cheeky light jumping trot. On the road surely it's bad form to pick and choose when you're suddenly 'not a vehicle'.

There is such a thing as bad publicity. I think social networks can be quite effective in getting companies to realise their responsibilities.

I had some feedback from Viridor today, saying the same that the driver is no longer with them. Might be just a PR cut n paste but I'd like to think not.

There are a number of clips on Silly Cyclist which shows bikers pushing thier machines through red lights, with the comment that if they walk from red-light to red-light they havent broken the law, this may apply to cyclists too.

A total waste of my licence fee ,all IMO of course.
Maybe so but it's nice to hear positive cycling content in the mainstream media.

Re: Met Police officer closely undertakes cyclist
Hi to all, Thelawnet, In answer to your question I didn't signal when I moved out to the right lane and didn't notice any vehicles approaching behind me.
At about 23 Secs in the video I signaled to turn right. I expected the bus to be the next vehicle to approach me and wanted to be clear to them my direction of travel.
Some have suggested I should have gone back into the bus lane and signaled closer to the lights. IMHO this would constitute zigzagging along what is evidently treated as a speedway.

Re: Met Police officer closely undertakes cyclist
For the record I was intending to turn right and was indicating those intentions.
