Re: Why do chains snap?

My chain was sort of ripped, bent at the link. Not sure how or why. Didn't bother finding the broken bit. Chain was SRAM or KMC as it had a magic link.

Re: Rear wheel punctures

If you are cycling in London near major A roads then there appears to be a significant increase in glass. Bon the whole roads in London are not too bad. Most of my punctures are on the cycle way next to the A road. Marathon plus are very draggy and suck the life out of you. My summer bike has durano...

Re: Why do chains snap?

Its been on for about 2 years but its only a summer bike, as it does not take guards. Its much be done to poor maintenance, but I wiped it down and cleant it when it was oiled which was about every 100 miles or more if wet (on the odd occasion I got caught out). It was not skipping on the cassette o...

Why do chains snap?

Mine snapped today on the way to work. The chain has been kept oiled and relatively clean. I should have paid attention when I was riding as I occasionally felt and heard a slight movement and noise but as everything else was tight did not suspect the chain. I think it went on the removable pin, bit...

Re: Velo Orange brakes

I saw these as well but I suspect, as others have said, that the frame maybe not be able to run larger brakes. I like the idea though, but they are very spendy.

Re: Vittoria Hypers (again)

For those that are using them, what is the penalty in speed compared to a 28/32 folding fast tire like a gp4000. The reason I ask is because running my summer bike - 25 I seem to be about 1mph an hour faster than the bike with the fatter tires, but I am not sure if its the weather (i.e simply better...

As mentioned above you can get non Halfords bikes via the Halfords scheme.

Re: 135mm OLN Lightweight Road Wheels

I would get a set of handbuilts using novatec 700 series hubs and Hplus son rims. Just to future proof would get some disc hubs. Also I am pretty sure these hubs can be swapped to thru axle.

Re: Chinese Carbon - Does this frame go by any other names?

totally OT P.s. I've never really done an introduction on here, I'm not sure if there is somewhere I can do one, but basically I'm a northerner who's a slogging it in the city (pretending to be an accountant)... or me in pictures: https://www.instagram.com/nath_gb/  But well done with the weig...

Re: Fit the widest tyres you can. Discuss

So I get the wider tire argument and understand why pro don't go wide, but why would more audax riders not go wider, as isn't the comfort worth the relatively small speed loss?

Re: Losing weight

Just to update this. Been trying harder, and I think I need a lot less calories than I expect, around 2000 for steady state. Trying to manage around 1600 calories a day and have dropped about 2kg in about 6 weeks. Trying to get to 76kg but its very hard work. Have mixed up things a bit - walking mor...
