I’ll try that again…
Thanks Pete, I did notice they were available after I posted that, but decided that probably wouldn’t work for me so took a different route.
If anyone’s following this I will explain where I am with it at the moment.
I eventually bought an I.R.D Alpina-d from fine-bicycles, as it appears made for the job.
Ordered yesterday afternoon and arrived with the post this morning, quite impressive really.
It’s beautifully made and, does as claimed “do the job.”
At the moment its working pretty well, with the exception that when changing from the big ring to the middle, it over shifts and goes to the small ring. I am working on it.
I have only tried it on the work stand at the moment, but suspect it will do the same while riding on the road.

Anti TDF on here...can't say I noticed that myself. I watch every stage right through and only fast forward through the less interesting parts.

Re: Stronglight Impact Triple Chainset. PART 2
Knocking off a brazed on boss sounds like the perfect solution.
Do you suggest I use my 3lb lump hammer, or take a good swing at it with my long handled 14lb one

As Mick F says, and don't forget, it loosens anti clockwise.

Re: Stronglight Impact Triple Chainset. PART 2
I have just measured the drop on my front mech and as you say its 35mm, one with a 45mm drop looks like it may do the trick

Hello Brucey
Well that certainly sounds interesting, and could be a possible problem solver. I would love to give it a go, and would appreciate some details and price etc if possible please.

Stronglight Impact Triple Chainset. PART 2
So I bought the Stronglight Impact triple, mentioned in a previous post.
Looks nice on the bike but I have a problem.
I have a brazed on front mech boss and the changer won’t drop far enough to work properly. I have trimmed the bottom of the slot out as far as I am happy going but its still sits too high above the big chainring which has 46 teeth. I did anticipate this may be a problem but was hoping for the best…as you do!
Looking at the front mech when its offered up to the boss, it looks as though the bold holding the two together, needs to be almost directly under the bottom of the braze on.
I have ruled out fitting one of those bolt on seat tube to braze on bands as I’m not sure they are available in 28.6mm.
Is there some sort of bracket that will bolt on to the brazed on bracket that the mech can be bolted to?
I should add that I have had it working but it’s far from being reliable and satisfactory.

Re: Spreading 753 rear
Having read that again, I see you have managed to fit a 130mm spaced wheel in the dropouts, so whats the problem?

Stronglight Impact Triple Chainset.
Hi all
I am looking to get a Stronglight Impact triple chainset, probably from Spa cycles.
I see they list a “new” five arm model as well as the older four arm one.
The five arm one is £16 more. Is it worth the extra? they both look similar except for the extra arm.
