Re: Duty payable
Thanks for the advice, looks like it could end up being expensive. I have purchased parts from the USA a few times, and always get stung, fingers crossed this time if I go ahead with it, I won't.

Duty payable on Swiss goods ??
Has anyone purchased bike parts from Switzerland. I am curios how much duty and other fees would be charged on top of the price paid for the item?

Re: Campag skewer thread.
Thanks for confirming that Brucey, I thought it was but wasn't sure. Not sure what you mean by undercut at the thread run-out, but as this frame does have horizontal dropouts I would be interested to know.
Thanks for the offer drossall, but as I live in the far flung south west (Plymouth) it would probably be easier to fit a narrower spacer and cut a few mm of the axle.

Campag skewer thread.
Hello
Does anyone know what threading the old Campagnolo Record skewer, 60’s – 80’s has please, I want to shorten, a 6 speed to 5 and need to run up the thread and shorten the overall length. I think possibly 5m but want to be sure before I buy the wrong die.

Re: Smelly Brooks saddle.
I have a few bikes and am short of one pair of pedals, so ride the bikes in rotation and swap pedals. I will get around to getting some one day.

Re: Smelly Brooks saddle.
Thanks for the advice all. I have added a pic of the offending saddle. As you can see the top look ok, the underside is the same. I have tried several Brooks’s saddles over the years, and this is the only one I have ever found comfortable so, more than a little concerned to damage it by experimenting. Its funny how the obvious, is not always obvious to some (me for instance) I am sure Brooks will have an answer, I can’t be the only one who has ever had this problem. I will email them, but from previous experience I am not expecting a quick answer, but that’s ok. And I practically had to hold my nose to take the pic, I am not exaggerating the smell.

Re: Smelly Brooks saddle.
Thanks guys. Have tried the first two methods mentioned, and have had it inside the house for a while, but maybe for not long enough. Long term house cosseting is unfortunately not an option though due to bike hating other half.

Smelly Brooks saddle.
I own a rather beautiful old Brooks B17 Professional saddle. It came my way about two years ago. It’s in remarkably good condition, but unfortunately it has a nasty musty smell, that has never disappeared. There is no mould or fungus that I can see, yet it still smells. I have applied proofide a few times, but the smell persists, though I didn’t expect proofiding would cure it, I was hoping the passing of time would. Every time I enter my garage I can smell it, and I want the smell gone. I don’t expect I am the only one who has ever experienced this, so would be grateful if anyone could pass on any tips to cure it.

Importing from Belgium
Hello
Has anyone had experience in importing a frame and forks from Belgium please? I understand there should be no VAT or tax payable on it, as we are both in the EU, but can I expect the courier to add any additional charges…as is their usual want? This information seems impossible to find.
