Re: Rain damaged Brooks saddle.

The Patina of Use ..... be proud of it ..... :) Leather saddles don't remain the same all their life. In particular, the pale "Honey" ones go nearly as dark as a brown saddle. Some people like the patina, and will pay extra for it. The same applies to faded Carradice saddlebags. Yes, I li...

Re: Rain damaged Brooks saddle.

Surely that's just not normal? Back when I was commuting all year round, my brown Swift (proofided top and bottom) got wet on a regular basis. I never thought anything of it. After 10ish years there is some slight discoloration on the very tip of the nose which could well be water damage but it's p...

Re: Rain damaged Brooks saddle.

I like and expect patina too on my bikes but to me this looks more like damage in my opinion.

Re: Rain damaged Brooks saddle.

Thanks all who have commented, always appreciated. Couple of thoughts, I have proofided it a couple of times top and bottom, and the underside was absolutely dry after the ride. Yes, it is quite new, a few months old as it happens. I like your idea of renovating shoe polish 9494arnold, but will put ...

Re: Rain damaged Brooks saddle.

I don't think the leather has been dyed properly; the colour shouldn't just 'rub off' like that, it isn't meant to be just a thin coating, not on saddles. Very possibly they have changed the way they do it; leathers are meant to be stained right through during the manufacturing process, aren't they...

Re: Rain damaged Brooks saddle.

Well unfortunately it is completely dry and yes, I wish I had had a cover over it but didn’t.

Rain damaged Brooks saddle.

I don’t often choose to ride in the rain but last week I got caught in a downpour that lasted the 20 miles I had to cycle to reach home. I wasn’t too worried about getting my Brooks saddle wet as I figured as I was sitting on it it would remain dry. I figured wrong. I got absolutely soaked through a...

Re: Winter Glove Recommendations Please

Has anybody tried the dhb Extreme Winter Gloves .... awful tempted to give them a try although there do seem some mixed reports on the sizing. Yes, I have. My palm measures 20cm around, so extra small on their chart. I ordered a pair of mediums, which were okay but a tad tight. I also ordered a pai...

There is/was a rumour that the now closed Timehouse is being relocated. Does anyone have an update on this please.

Re: 10-50 cassette

My ebike came with a 10-50 cassette. 16t drive sprocket and 1x11.
The cassette was useless for the type of riding I do (mostly road) so sold it and replaced it with a lighter 11-40, which is perfect. There was no way I was ever going to use the biggest two sprockets.

Re: Posting a bike to the USA

The box I have measures 132 x 23 x 73 and I'm pretty sure I could pack the bike into it.
Those are the figures I sent him so it's really up to him to find a price he's happy with or not buy it.
Thanks for your answers everyone.

Re: Mirror + bar-end shifters

I ride along with quite a few people using them and they seem quite happy with them, so may try again.
