GPS for distence only?

Hi, I want to measure the distances of my rides but I'm not bothered about a device that records my route or any other functions. I've looked at this Garmin; https://buy.garmin.com/en-GB/GB/sports-recreation/cycling/edge-20/prod508487.html, but is there a device available that's less than £110 ? Age...

Re: Titanium frame repairs are they worth it?

I recently downgraded my afore mentioned (Litespeed) Ti road bike for an (Cannondale) aluminium cross bike and you know what, I miss my Ti bike. Yes the 'dale is a lot more stiff and responsive than the Litespeed was but it's also heavier and just not as super comfy for epic long rides. I'm glad to ...

Re: Carbon soled shoes - are they all as bad as Bont?

This is why I use Time off road set up these days. I am just old enough to have used toe clips and strap for racing and it was a real relief for me when I got to start using Look pedal. I, and everyone else I knew, had to have the straps pulled tight all the time, not just for sprints but for climbi...

won't fit, so a non-starter

Just remembered, the OPs frame is inch steerer tube, none the less I add my voice to those saying that it look like a V bad idea to drill that fork crown.

Re: Carbon soled shoes - are they all as bad as Bont?

On the other hand, if you crash whilst you feet are strapped in with toe clips and straps your injuries are going to be far more horrendous, hence the reason clipless was invented in the first place.

Re: Disk brake specific cyclocross rims.

Tyre science is increasingly showing that somewhat wider tyres are faster, so it'd probably be wider tyres anyway.

Re: Carbon soled shoes - are they all as bad as Bont?

Each to their own I suppose, as long as it doesn't cause you any injury you're free to pedal with which ever technique you choose.

Though if you're interested in pedalling efficiency this is a good video to watch; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CNedIJBZpgM

Re: Disk brake specific cyclocross rims.

Not sure what sort of tyre I'll be using, Definitely clinchers, not tubeless or tubs. I'll have more that one pair of tyres for different conditions, I'll be using narrow slick road tyres for the occasional road ride. As for the type of riding I'll be doing, not racing, just hard rides on the trails...

Re: Disk brake specific cyclocross rims.

Hi samsbike, I'm not racing, those days are over for me. Planning on clinchers tyres. Mavic 719, I think they're the rims I've got my eye on, I want thirty six spoke rather than thirty two. I like the look of the H+ son archtype rims too. Thanks for the suggestion.

Disk brake specific cyclocross rims.

Hi, has anyone got a cross bike with disk brakes? I'm getting a cross bike and I'll be having the wheel built by the lbs. I know which hubs to get but I wonder about the rims. Is there any reason I shouldn't used 29er mountain bike rims or would it be better to get cyclocross specific rims? By the w...

Re: Carbon soled shoes - are they all as bad as Bont?

on closer inspection it occurred to me that all the upward force on the pedal is relying on this little band of glue to hold the uppers on straps and all.

Do you mean you're pulling upwards on the pedals? If this is the case then the solution for you is to not do that. Just ride normally.

Re: ...how easy it would be to "roadify" a track bike?

I had On-one Pompino (fixed tourer) and the forks supported a disk brake, so If I were you I'd just replace the forks you've got with a pair that support a brake (those On-one's recommended) and do without a rear brake. After a while you'll get used to not having a rear brake because you'll be well ...

Sram Omnium Crankset, why can't I seem to get hold of one?

Hi all, so I order said crankset from one mail order website, waited in every morning for it to be delivered and it never came. Now I've ordered from another mail order website and waiting in every morning for the delivery but it's still doesn't seem to be materialising. Are these in short supply in...
