How much cycling do you have to do to lose weight

I used to run regularly in my 20s and 30s which would keep my weight down...I'm 5ft 9ins...and for years kept a steady weight of 11 stone...and a 32 inch waist I'm now passed 50...still 5ft 9ins...no longer run...but cycle a steady 250 to 300 miles a month...cycling every day...my legs are trim...bu...

...I was fighting against the wind on my way into work the other day...not able to go much faster than 8mph...when a larger fellow on a racing bike overtook me...I noticed he could only muster about 12mph against the very strong wind...so I quickly tucked in behind him and 'drafted' the remaining 4 ...

...my thoughts entirely...but by the time I'd stopped cycling...wiped my glasses or soothed my back...searched my pockets for paper and pen...the car had long since disappeared from sight...and its number from my memory...!

It's not the shouting at that I hate the most though it can be unsettling when concentrating on the road and one's thoughts...no...it's the drive-by spitting and object throwing I detest...both I incurred on local roads last summer from what looked like 'boy-racers' spedding by...
