Re: Speedometer

Most wireless ones I had suffered from "phantom miles". Yes Ian ...I was cycling along at an ave speed of 10mph yesterday when I looked down at my current milo and within 2 secs it read both 4mph and 10mph ...OK ...I'll drop the wireless need ...but have lost many miles not recorded as I ...

Speedometer

Can anyone recommend an inexpensive speedometer with 3 main criteria...

...wireless
...auto starts
...with a save odo function (for when the battery runs out)

...I've checked online the many types out there but cannot find one under £30 that meets all my needs

Many thanks

Proposals to Increase HGV Speed Limit on Single Carriageway

To CTC Members A not generally known proposal by government which could impact on our safe riding of the country roads has appeared, as follows: The DfT has opened a consultation on increasing the speed limit for HGV’s on single carriageway roads. The consequences to cyclists and other vulnerable ro...

Re: The War on Britain's Roads

I've had a milk shake thrown over me, a hamburger box thrown at me, and that hardy perennial being shouted loudly at by a yobbo in the passenger seat just to startle you. That's apart from being cut up and shouted at on a regular basis. I was a car driver and motocyclist for fifty years (given up b...

Re: The War on Britain's Roads

Another point - I would never, ever , wilfully touch another vehicle whilst cycling. Except as a last-ditch life-saving measure - e.g. to fend myself off from a collision! Courtesy counts for a lot in good road sense. And thumping a car roof with a gloved hand is a good precursor to fisticuffs.... ...

Re: University Project - Product to Improve Cyclist Safety

...I have just completed Sam's survey ...but took issue with the question "...have you ever had an accident ...as the result of cycling?" I have had an accident while cycling ...not as a result of me cycling ...but as the result of a hit-and-run driver hitting me from behind ...throwing me...

Re: Reinventing the bike lock

...I thought it too obvious a suggestion ...do we know why it hasn't caught on for all bicycles?

Who would want to steal an immobilised bicycle ...other than for spare parts?

Re: Reinventing the bike lock

...cannot bicycle manufacturers produce a lock within the bicycle itself ...as with motorcycles and mopeds ...whereby the front wheel is turned to the left to lock using a key ...thus immobilsing the bike into the bargain?

Re: Do you like to tour alone?

I prefer to cycle tour with my wife ...we understand and like each other's style of cycling ...and the routes we enjoy

I also like to cycle in groups ...but they tend to go faster ...which improves my speed and stamina ...but it's not the same ...!
