Re: Parking in Crewe for a cycle tour
Too late I expect but you'd be welcome to park outside my house in rope lane. If you went I hope it went well. We are having a cycle to work breakfast at St. Paul's church in Hightown on 12 sept, love to hear how you got on.

Re: Elected Police Commissioners
I like it, most have been replaced by local volunteers with speed guns, or smiley Sid automatic speed displays who tells you that your dashboard speed indicator does indeed tell you that you are driving way too fast. But no consequence other than, if you are lucky, a vague sense of embarrassment.

Re: Elected Police Commissioners
I should explain that the above is a draft letter to our local paper,
I'm not convinced they even think they have any chance of affecting policing, not a clear proposal from any.

Re: Elected Police Commissioners
Sir,
In the last week Bradley Wiggins and the British cycling coach, Shane Sutton, were both knocked of their bikes by cars in the north west, and the BBC2 broadcasted a scathing documentary on our dangerous roads around Nantwich.
In response, Active Crewe Travel asked each of the five Police and Crime Commissioners candidates their position on traffic policing and cycling before this weeks election. We received replies from 3:
John Stockton (Labour) responded within the hour, writing "I will be allocating resources to enforce speed limits in Cheshire and working with the Highway Authorities to try and reduce the number of deaths and injuries we have in the county."
Louise Bours (UKIP) was in favour of 20 mph speed limits in residential areas said "Wouldn't it be great to extend our bike lanes across the county?"
Ainsley Arnold (Lib Dems) agreed that that the danger is not the design of our roads it is the drivers disregard of both the speed limits and road conditions, and emphasised that all road users should fully comply with the highway code, and use our roads in manner that poses no threat to others.
The consensus was clear from the candidates who replied; for pedestrians and cyclists, roads are not normally dangerous in themselves. The danger comes from cars driven by speeding, inattentive or drunk drivers that kill or maim hundreds each year. The challenge for any prospective police commissioner is to act to make roads safer to encourage healthier, safer and sustainable travel around Crewe.
Yours
