Re: Cycle paths beside 'A' class roads East Anglia

On a positive note I am happy to report that in the Bridgend area a lot of work has been going on over the last couple of years to create practical cycle routes alongside major roads, notably along the A473 between Bridgend itself and the neighbouring small town of Pencoed. https://www.google.com/m...

It shows a picture of people running. Presumably they too have too keep below 5mph.

But of course. Faster than that is dangerous or reckless. Every non cyclist knows that.

Re: Did this bus pass close enough?

I think that was a rail replacement coach. There is a whole fleet running between East Grinstead and Lewes at the moment as there is signalling work at Lewes (replacement of semaphore signals?). Why E Grinstead I just don't know. :? I also noticed an email address on the back of the coach.

Re: "Elderly drivers can't cope with modern traffic" - wrong argument?

Are speed signs on the road surface only legal? I thought (possibly mistakenly) that they were reinforcement of the legal road signs. I thought speeds signs on the road are reinforcement ie repeater, signs in a speed limited section of road. There are normally signs on poles at the start of the lim...

Re: Shimano dynamos

DH-T670 is the hub in question. One had a fair amount of use but one not much at all (they're on different bikes). One failed whilst riding one whilst in the garage. The former got changed for a cheap Shimano hub and I've ordered an SP one. When I get the new hub I might try and dismantle the other...

Re: Did my 300km audax this weekend

I never hear anyone saying "acreage" either. For the few who do, "area" would work just as well and allow use of simpler units. "acreage" is a common word and defines the measurement. "area" doesn't define the measurement. That's the difference. I hope you me...

Re: Did my 300km audax this weekend

Well done! Mind you, for us oldies, how far is 300Km in real money? https://www.calculateme.com Comes out as 186.4miles. That makes more sense. "In my book" that's really good going. Probably take me a few days to do that. Edit Probably?? Should have omitted that word.

Re: Did my 300km audax this weekend

Mind you, for us oldies, how far is 300Km in real money? Are miles "real" to you because you think a multiple of the distance an ox team can pull a plough without resting while a division of the distance between equator and pole is fake? Yes just as "real". How accurately ...

Yes. Well done. Great ride - that distance in a day makes me feel old! The flatlandia looks good for cycling - not much of it in these parts.

Re: BBC Bias again

You need to register for that link so I haven't listened. However here's another case of BBC having problems with bicycles. Have there been any challenges filming in Amsterdam and Belgium? The challenge in Amsterdam is bicycles, because they are everywhere! However much you try to control the traffi...

Perhaps carry metal tyre levers? Are they still made?
