Re: 135mm OLN Lightweight Road Wheels

All these superfluous gears are a great shame. With 135mm we could all be riding round on dishless 7spd.

Re: I met Gareth Howell yesterday...

Can't remember his other names There were quite a few gar-like new posters starting threads on the old forum. http://forum.cyclinguk.org/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=3967 . As you will recall the CTC Forum was all a bit lawless at one time. I quickly got fed up with it and it was a while before I re-re...

I met Gareth Howell yesterday...

...not the legendary gar (+ various pseudonyms) formerly of this forum, just some poor soul with the same name.

I nearly choked on my drink when I saw that name on my appointment list!

Re: Footway Parking (Scotland ) Bill, survey.

I can confidently say that there would be many more householders objecting if a law prohibiting parking next to the dropped kerbs outside their houses was introduced and enforced.

Re: Footway Parking (Scotland ) Bill, survey.

A private nuisance. I dare say you would also be pretty aggrieved if you got ticketed for parking across your own driveway! This bill is not about maintaining private access. It is about ensuring people can travel safely down the public footway.

Re: Footway Parking (Scotland ) Bill, survey.

Those dropped kerbs are provided to facilitate vehicular access to those residential properties. No public nuisance is created if a person decides to park near one. Footway users are affected by the other type of dropped kerb provided for the benefit of the those with wheel/pushchairs.

Re: Restricted Byway Access?

Yes, that is entirely consistent with what the map shows. The tiny section from the farm to the cycle path is marked as footpath. I missed that bit whilst focusing on the status of the access road to the farm. Assuming the map is correct the owner is entitled to restrict passage from the farm onward...

Re: Restricted Byway Access?

If you fire off a question to the council they may have some information if they have looked into the status of the route recently or if it has been stopped up or diverted. They would be able to tell you if they viewed it as public and that would rule out a drafting error by Ordnance Survey. In my e...

Re: Restricted Byway Access?

Get ready for this one Mark, it's a SABRE type of answer :) In theory all public rights of way that aren't vehicular roads should appear on definitive maps of rights of way. In theory all publically maintainable highways including nearly all rights of way should appear on a statutory "list of s...
