Re: Give up flying?

Plenty of people, it seems, have nothing but insults to pour on Greta. Remember, she's only 16 - though she's achieved more in her few years than most people (like me) have done in their threescore-and-ten. The latest ugly attack comes from one Arron Banks - wishing her to meet with a "freak ya...

'spoiler'?

On a related topic, wouldn't it be useful to have a "spoiler" feature? I believe some forum 'engines' support it, I don't know about phpbb. This is where part of your post is invisible until you click on it, or on a 'reveal' button. Of course making the text colour white-on-white or pale-b...

Re: Driving in France

When you are riding on a cycle track at night that is on the same side of the road as the oncoming traffic and you are getting blinded, that's why you need beam deflectors. Sorry, that doesn't make sense. Deflectors can only be used on RHD vehicles, when driving in a drive-on-the-right country . Th...

Re: Driving in France

Presumably that quote of you has a source: it might be a good idea to identify it? Anyway, I can confirm the requirement for gilets jaunes , warning triangle, GB plate (unless incorporated in your number plate), and breathalyzer. This last (obtainable from Halfords etc.) you need to carry two of the...

I suppose, seeing as the word is generally used nowadays as a term of opprobrium, it's anything I'm not....

Re: All-female cabinet?

I believe the late John Prescot was working class.... "The late "? "The late "???!!! Last time I heard, John Prescott was still very much alive. Anyway I'm finding it more and more meaningless to interpret the terms "working class", "middle class", etc. etc.,...

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

It may be significant that in Farage's hatchet job on the Royals (except Liz of course, he thinks she's luverly...) he fails to make any mention of Prince Andrew.

Does that mean he thinks old Yorkie's alleged peccadilloes are "quite all right then, he's one of us...."?

Something similar happened to me when I googled "tits" - with SafeSearch off  . At least it was adults. I think it was all adults... Meanwhile, I just got an answer from the National Trust. They've forwarded my message and photo to the local NT group, maybe they'll look into ...

Re: Hows Your Eye Sight

One thing I noticed when I went for my eye test a couple of weeks ago: the test chart is now splashed on a computer screen and the optician changes it for each test - so you can't 'cheat' by memorising the letters! I was wondering whether this one would pop up. But it didn't... https://i.pinim...

Re: Reward for reporting idling cars.

Surely, there are many cars that automatically cut the engine when the car stops at, e.g. traffic lights? Either that, or there are a lot of very conscientious motorists out there. Mind doesn't have that feature, but then it's an older, basic-model car. I don't know how the system works, perhaps som...
