When the campsites are confirmed I will pm you as I'm sure you will be happy to join us for part of the ride

Happy New Year to the Wimps (and the mighty Mick). I'm with you (though sadly only in spirit for the moment)
All the best

Re: Cycling UK (CTC Tours) LEJoGs 2018

No matter how you dress it up there are rivers and watersheds to cross when travelling on roads from one end of the country to the other. Even if you kept to the coast there are hills and certainly couldn’t be done in 21 days. There is no escape from hills and the big question is how much of a deto...

Re: Cycling UK (CTC Tours) LEJoGs 2018

I'd love to do this- it looks like it's amazingly well run and a joy to cycle. But I don't think I could, despite having 12000 miles under my belt since 2012. The thing is, no matter how much I train, I'm still very poor at going up hills even compared with others of the same age (late 60s) who in t...

Nice to hear from the founder of the group, we have had a busy time since January when Landsurfer and I picked up your challenge. With the help of Cycleruk and KFT we have, with input and advice from many forum members, produced a route that was the shortest and least climbing we could, KFT and Cyc...

Just thought I'd butt in and say hi to all you wimps. Delighted it's all still going well. Sorry to have missed the July ride- stuff came up etc.... Amazing what you've done since my original post- with the number of views you must have many enjoying the banter from outside the group. I'm still look...

Re: LEJOG route advice please: Worcester to Shrewsbury

Sorry- a bit late on this one. Agree entirely about the NCR from Bewdley to Bridgnorth- it's ludicrous in places. I did a bit of working on this route- I don't think you need to go to Droitwich. The NCR from Bridgnorth to Ironbridge is fine and you get to ride over the Ironbridge! (Even though I thi...

Thanks for posting. I think I've made it public now. Let me know if there's still a problem.

Re: Lejog for wimps please- or am I on my own? ( merged )

I'm glad that I've prompted a Wimple Jog movement. As some have said its moved away from the original a bit. In the first post I was wondering how many would go for a supported ride with minimal hills, moderate mileages and maximum comfort (here I mean Travelodges and the like- not the Ritz) along t...

Re: Lejog for wimps please- or am I on my own?

Hi, As Mick F said, do your own thing, plan the route so if hilly you do less miles to tie up with accommodation, so every day is same effort but not same miles. Or you need a guy with a camper and pay em. Other option take a tent. Or is companionship what you would prefer. Thanks for the replies. ...

Lejog for wimps please- or am I on my own? ( merged )

Ever since I was 61 I've wanted to do LeJog. Two tries (to be supported by family in 2013 and by Saddle Skeddadle in 2014) have been thwarted by, respectively, the theft of my bikes from the garage followed the next year a touch of cardiac arrest. I'm 67 now, and still want to do it and the easiest ...

SRAM 11-speed road with 11-36 cassette

Being a rider in search of granny rings on lightweight sporty bikes I bought a half-price Boardman Cyclocross carbon frame with disc brake fittings. My previous bike had SRAM Rival 2X10 with 50-32 chainrings and a 11-36 Cassette (the RD was a standard Rival Wifli medium cage). This worked well, but ...

Re: Lejog DVD

It seems that the makers http://jollygoodtv.co.uk are no longer in production. But I did find http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/offer-listing/B00WBIPJT6/ref=dp_olp_0?ie=UTF8&condition=all and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VBrM85Qz0G4 which seems to have been made by one of the original film makers. ...

Sram Road 11 speed with 11-36 cassette?

This is a simple question- though I expect the answer to be anything but! I currently run a SRAM 2X10 Rival setup with a 50-34 compact and a 11-36 cassette. The RD is a rival mid cage. It's on a Boardman CX and it works noislessly in all combinations. It is not recommended by SRAM as their PG1050 11...

Re: Any comments on my Route - 1st timer LEJOG - 81 years ol

Blimey! I thought that I was being frisky doing my first LeJoG this year at 64! No doubt it will be two shakes of a lamb's tail before Mick F ( surely his knighthood for services to E2Enders cannot be long now) mentions Rob's Passage as an alternative to the direct route you've chosen through Tivert...
