Really anywhere in Bristol central or west would be OK as Long Ashton is not so far away. Clifton is a nice area with plenty of choice and you can ride across the suspension bridge to get to Long Ashton. No reason to buy Shimano unless you want a chain that won't last so long. SRAM are good but I personally prefer the Wipperman chains and for some reason seem to get on better with their connecting links.

I have a couple of TA screw in type that I don't use (I use the allen bolt type instead) and you are welcome to those. Just cover the postage. Although £18 - are we talking about the same thing???!!!

Hi Angel31 Yes, I have one of these that hangs off of the tailgate hatch (don't know the exact model). Had it about 12 years and used relatively infrequently, maybe half dozen times a year (same reason you consider this type was my rationale too). Anyway, I'd recommend it. It's pretty much bombproof...
