Close Pass Initiative - follow up?

Considering the number of close passes I am subjected to on a weekly basis I wonder if there is any follow up on the police authorities who have 'signed up' for the initiative? The cynic in me imagines that after the PR photo of a policeman shaking hands and taking the 1.5m distance mat, it is rolle...

I'm assuming that it was parked there to scrape up the cyclists who were forced to use the road :?

Re: Avon Cycleway

I did this ride yesterday - great ride and apart from the climb up to the airport, very flat. I created my own GPX as it allowed me to add a small detour to include my home. I called up the Sustrans map https://www.sustrans.org.uk/ncn/map/route/avon-cycleway and plotted the route on the RideGPS webs...

Re: wireless cycle computer for 2 bikes

Thanks for your input - I decided to go for a Cateye Padrome Smart - which uses bluetooth to gather data from my phone (which I always carry when cycling) So far it seems very good; the phone can be in sleep mode - you don't have to turn an app on as with Strava but the GPS still works so the speed ...

wireless cycle computer for 2 bikes

I'm looking to get a wireless cycle computer and it would be handy if I could swap it between bikes. I know there used to be certain computers that could take 2 separate wheel diameters so you could use them on different machines but this doesn't seem to be a feature that is advertised on many of th...

Re: Left Hook by an e-bike

In the OP it sounds like it was acceleration rather than top speed that enabled the rider to get past and do a left hook. Yes - that is exactly the case - I don't think she would have put herself on the outside at the lights had she been on a normal bike and she certainly wouldn't have got ahead of...

Left Hook by an e-bike

On my commute this morning, Just entering a 30mph zone at about 25 and I see a woman on an e-bike join the main road from a junction on the left - she didn't look or signal - perhaps she thought that the helmet, hi viz and fluorescent sash would keep her safe from any collision. I passed her and con...

Re: Second hand bicycle I bought from Ebay has anti theft nuts..

Can I ask the OP if they have contacted the owner of the bike featured in https://stolen-bikes.co.uk/stolen-bikes/vsf-fahrradmanufaktur-t-500-alfine-8/ to check the frame number of the bike in question isn't the stolen one? It's not that bike. The OP's bike, with the Pitlocks, has trigger shifters ...

Re: Schwalbe g one

i have Schwalbe Pro One EVO 25mm on my fixed and Schwalbe G One Speed 30mm on my everyday bike.
These I run at 65psi rear and 50psi front. Very comfortable and good grip in all conditions.
I can't fault them apart from the price - definitely recommend giving them a go.

Re: Near miss on busy road - plea for good lights!!

Please - everyone - if you are cycling in busy traffic in the dark, use a modern, seriously bright front light that can compete with car headlights!!!! I don't know if you are aware Lesaid of the amount of grief we get for having lights that are too bright, that dazzle the poor motorists, give them...

I agree that the Questionnaire doesn't give options for type or distance cycled but it does give the opportunity to leave comments on how it may be improved.
Happy to help any student :D

Re: Distance from kerb.

I tend to vary my distance from the kerb depending on my speed; flying down a hill I will easily be 1metre out. Crawling up it and I can safely be closer in as I will spot pot holes and debris a long time before having to reposition myself. I don't want to be a pain for other road users either by re...
