Re: Which new canti's for a Raleigh Randonneur.
I have also just bought a Raleigh Randonneur frame that I am building up. It came with the original Canti brakes but one set were damaged and I could not get them to work properly. I replaced them with Dia Comp 999 brakes which I thought looked more in keeping with the originals: https://www.sjscycl...

Not sure what you mean by the screw in bit but the back of mine looks like this and I have a couple of the cheap holders Norman linked to and they work well.

Re: A reasonable walking GPS that's good for cycling too?
I guess this depends a bit on what your priorities are. I have an Etrex 20 that I use mainly for walking. It is fairly small so it sits in the hand nicely and uses 2 AA batteries that last 2-3 days. I also use it for cycling where a slightly larger display would probably be better. If I am planning ...

Re: Brompton Electric Conversion Advice please
Thanks for the reassurance. You are right the bike isn't light. His previous Ebike was stolen from outside his flat so he wanted something that he could bring inside at night.

Re: Brompton Electric Conversion Advice please
Radial spoking is fairly standard on normal Brompton front wheels I think.
Sure, but my concern was to do with the transmission of the torque from the motor to the rim via radial spokes.

Brompton Electric Conversion Advice please
Friend of mine came round today on his Bromptom that he has converted to an Ebike by adding this front wheel.
Was slightly surprised to see that it was radially spoked. Is this OK?

Re: Recharging front light - how frequently is ok?
Does it matter how rapidly you charge the battery? I use my phone charger to charge my lights. The old chargers took hours to charge the phone but my latest one works much faster. Does that kill the battery faster?

Re: Squeaky brakes again
Had the same problem with my V Brakes caused by wear in the bushing. Not helped by any amount of fiddling with the pads or cleaning the rim. Replaced the brakes and silent braking again. I assume the same thing can affect cantis.

Re: Catastrophic spoke failure. While stored..
There was a similar discussion here a couple of years ago: https://forum.cyclinguk.org/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=110887 And prior to that I recall a similar thread on a different forum http://tinyurl.com/j7uc4vw Previously I had assumed that this was simply a case of vandalism, not so sure now. Seems ...

Re: 'O' rings
for anything that is safety critical as well as the size being correct, you need to be 100% sure that the material is the correct sort for the application. A seal in the wrong material can be worse than no seal at all; it can fail at any time.

Re: Dynamos - Hub or Bottle?
A couple of follow up questions. Is the Decathlon hub wheel good enough for a Ridgback Panorama The Decathlon wheel has a Shimano hub. I have had mine for 3 months and have done about 600 miles in all weathers. It has not given me any problem in that time. I paired it with this light; https://www.s...

Re: Are These Mudguards Safe
Thanks folks. Here is a close up of the fitting
I do not think the stay will be held as firmly as with a traditional eyelet bolt but was not sure it would release if required.
I have a couple of Secuclips so will probably fit them next time we visit.

Are These Mudguards Safe
My sister in law had new mudguards fitted to her bike by a LBS in Cambridge. Surprisingly the front guards did not have a secu clip or similar at the fork.
