Editing gpx files

I'm hoping there's a nice simple solution to what must be a common issue....apologies if this has been covered elsewhere: I've searched but can't find.
I have had a brilliant book bought for me...one of the Lost Lanes series. It has some brilliant rides, and the associated gpx files.
But, for example, one of the rides starts at York railway station and during the rides passes within couple of miles of my bike shed.
So why would I take the car to York, pay £12 to park all day, ride past my house, back to York and so on.
Easy he thought.
Change the start and end points to chez moi.
But how?
My Mio 505 refuses to acknowledge a mid route start point of course, and I am gpx illiterate.
Help!!!

Re: E bike insurance

Well well. Thanks for the Barclays info. Just insured 2x2500 ebikes , 1x1000 roadie and a 500 mtb for £33
Still trying to spot the flaws!!!
About 10% of what I was being quoted elsewhere.

Re: Deliberate dangerous riding?

Ooh....its all a bit grumpy, is it not?

A couple of things occur to me...I spend a lot of my time riding (East Riding actually ) this sort of road/lane.
Firstly, even if I wish to ride closer to the verge to allow a motorist past, the potholes and debris don't always instantly sensible or possible. So I don't. However, should a sensible widening or passing place appear (as if by magic) I do give space and even (God forbid), slow down.

Secondly, it often occurs to me when having an impatient motorist inspecting my a**e, what happens if said prat meets another vehicle or gee gee? Does he/she slow? Stop? Crush them? Mebbe even get the big black 4x4 wheels dirty.

There's no answer to this issue, or even this ride. There are many idiot motorists.....and many more very good drivers.
There a one or two (?) idiot cyclists...and many more very good cyclists.
Fortunately, I'm perfect on both counts.

Perhaps

Re: How's your weather?

My first car was a Hillman imp.
It had 'through the floor' ventilation.
Great in hot weather. Not so good in the rain...made a mini swimming pool in the footwell

Re: What Has Made You Laugh Today ?

Listening to 'any questions' on R4 and the responses to the inevitable Hancock question.
The labour, lib dem and ScotNat members of the panel all agreed he should resign immediately.
Sir Somebody Tory said that he should stay as he was full concentrating while 'on the job'

The audience collapsed into hysteria. Sir Hobnob took ages to catch on.

Re: Range extender

Interesting stats!
I love my Orbea too .... but get a lot more miles than that. 55miles, 1000 ft of climb left me with 60% battery, so I guess its all down to the setting we use.
Alas, can't help you with the range extender issue, but great to hear from another Gain smiler....

Re: Covid as an excuse for poor service

Contrast....40mins trying to get through to Fone company, following 5 unanswered emails, each of which with an auto reply of 'we'll get back to you within 24hrs'...pathetic stuff.
.....and Northern Power Networks who answered within 20 seconds, and a cheerful Geordie (aren't they all?) sorted my issue within 3 minutes.
Top Stuff!

Re: 'Oat milk'

Nice debate which skips the root of the problem.
Too many humans.
So how do we reduce the population significantly?
....which of course would reduce the need for all sorts of stuff.

Re: Dangerous slippy tarmac

Not sure there's anywhere round here with enough tarmac to be slippy.
Potholes a plenty and lots of surface which once did, I am sure, have tarmac.

We hired a van from europecar, dropped it at wick Airport and took a taxi to JOG.
It was a long drive from Yorkshire . Not sure I'd fancy it from Dorset

Re: Bike crash in ford

Personally I treat fords and cattle grids with respect. Don't like either, and don't need a sign to tell me whatever. Particularly when they're wet...as fords tend to be.
