Re: Recommendation for sport glasses
Not as expensive as Oakley but more than the Lidl/Aldi glasses I'd recommend Adidas. I bought a pair of Evil Eye and couldn't be more pleased with them.

Strava climbing speeds
Was looking through some strava segments in interesting places I've been and one segment struck me. Not sure how you link to a specific segment but it's just south of Winchester in Otterbourne so its not unsurprisingly called "Otterbourne Climb". I'm not trying to compare my fully loaded C...

Edge 810 newbe asks....
Any Edge 810 users out there? Have a couple of questions! 1. Started my cycle this morning at 8pm. Stopped for lunch at 12:30 and to charge my stuff. How do you pause the track? Or do you have to have separate tracks for each stop/start???? Grrrrr 2. I saved a course of my route which I was using to...

Morrison's cleaning
Despite being on my short tour to the south coast I haven't yet decided on which sleeping bag to get SO a kind friend lent me his on the condition that I have it cleaned afterwards. Thought fair enough as I'd seen Morrison's doing sleeping bag cleaning (down) for £10ish. Now having used the bag for ...

Re: Random Farm Camping
I never ask. My thoughts are that as long as you act responsibly and leave everything as you find it then there should be no problem. I have a meal at a pub, basic wash, brush teeth and use the loo. Go to my desired field set up. Go to bed. Wake up, pack up find a lay by or suitable place to boil a ...

Re: Aldi 26th September
You can find some really fantastic bargains but I've found the problem to be that the product you buy today might not be the same product you buy tomorrow. Had some cracking salami but 2 weeks later it was rubbish and obviously a different supplier. With the non discounters the product pretty much s...

Re: YHA dead?
I guess that the business man found the YHA last minute booking prices less punitive than those at say travellodge. My own personal experience is that things have moved on but the YHA hasn't. There's a comment above along the lines of charging in line with what your offering but have to say that eve...

You need to add a 0 as the claims limit is £10,000 not £1,000

Re: Fixing a puncture on the road
Thanks everyone some really useful tips and things I hadn't thought about.
Bought 2 spare inner tubes from Evans this evening but hoping not to have to use them as I've just fitted 2 brand new Gatorskin hardshell tyres to the bike in honor of this first 'tour'

Fixing a puncture on the road
Off in a few days for a weeks 'tour' to the south coast. Everything was sorted until I was asked how I repair a puncture at the side of the road. I'm ok with most of it until I come to finding the hole. At home I use a bowl of water but on the side of the road in the dark in rubbish weather??? Ok......

London to Poole Harbour route
Hey
Just been checking out the Google maps bike route planner for the above trip and have found it meanders all over the place.
Anyone know of a safe and scenic bike route from Trafalgar Square London to Poole Harbour Dorset. Prefably that I can see in Google maps
Cheers

Touring with an edge
Has anyone toured using a Garmin Edge?
If so any tips? Not so much charging etc but do you switch it on at the beginning of the day and off at the end or every time you stop ie lunch, snack, breather etc

Fast & light cycle camping
With the nights drawing in and the temperatures falling I was wondering if anyone had any advice on fast and light cycle wild camping. Only a day or two at a time. In summer you can get away with a tarp and no sleeping bag. For winter a synthetic sleeping bag is about £100 and quite bulky and then a...
