Elevation profile

Often use Google maps to plan a cycle route.

Is there a way to show an elevation profile of the route before deciding on which to go for?

Re: A touring Amateur asks...

A truely heartfelt thanks to those that have replied. A real wealth of quality information. Have spent the past few days touring bike shops batting various options around and have pretty much decided that Dynamo hubs are going to be over kill even the cheaper one's. Most of the touring l'll be doing...

Re: Akto size

Andrew thats perfect thanks for confirming. I'm going to quickly have a look at the Lightwave tents as GoOutdoors has a sale on them at the moment but I'm certain I'll get the Akto.

Do you have any tips on using the Akto as a cycle touring tent?

That looks interesting. I'm guessing that my local outdoor shop should have further details.

Re: A touring Amateur asks...

I use a dyno hub and a few other gadgets, but it isn't really necessary in the UK/Western Europe. You would be surprised how a polite request will enable you to get your gadgets charged in pubs and cafes. I always take my iPad and in the evening I often eat out at pubs. I ask if they have WiFi (mos...

Re: A touring Amateur asks...

Thanks and apologies just wanted to be honest about where I was coming from, what touring stuff I've already got and my aspirations for my touring future so I could get some meaningful advice. Rereading my post I can see things could be misinterpreted. I know that its possible to 'tour' on pretty mu...

Re: Clueless about clipless

I don't follow your wife's logic at all. :) nor do I most of the time! during the hot weather I cycled to work then after work we met up on Hampstead Heath for a picnic supper. If I'd had cycle shoes I could have walked in normally I would just have used them. In a short period of time I'd end up h...

Wasn't there a price cap recently introduced that made roaming much more reasonable? have you spoken to your current service provider?
