Re: The Camping and Caravanning Club
Have cancelled my membership this year after about 5 years 3 reasons 1) I don't want the monthly magazine which they can't stop sending me even if I ask them to stop. 2) Even with the backpacker rates which you CAN'T book online (PITA) the savings are minimal unless you use it for about a month wort...

Yes, had it sorted a month ago and now its started to rub on the crank again. There's a noticeable scratch/groove where its rubbing.
Up to now it's been adjusted free but not sure after warranty expires.

Front mech issue
I've got an Ultregra group set on my cyclocross bike which is used as my daily commuter. Right from the start the front mech has been a nightmare to keep in alignment. The main problem being that when the chain is on the largest ring at the front the crank rubs against it with each revolution of the...

Shocking Dawes build quality.
Heard that a local chain cycle shop had a Dawes Ultra Galaxy in stock and on the shop floor. Decided to pop by and have a look. Was left blown away at the micturate poor quality of what is in essence a £1800 bike. The Dawes badge on the front had started to peel away as the glue wasn't strong enough...

Re: CTC ride question
Sorry I think I may be confused as to the relationship between the CTC and its clubs.
Is the general CTC membership different from the local CTC club membership i.e. you have to have to join BOTH to go on club rides?
Does that question make sense?

CTC ride question
Was looking at the local CTC website and noticed that there are a number of rides going out at weekends that I'd be interested in doing. Firstly do you have to be a member to go on one? Also would love for the rides in question to be shown on Google maps or similar but there are only very basic deta...

Re: Cycle - you must be sport
I'm sick of living in a country where everything has to be organised, marketed, sponsored, hi-vizzed to its eyeballs. Now this I completely agree with. I signed up to do a half marathon and everyone I've told or knows that I'm doing it has asked me which charity I'm running for. The answer is none ...

Re: Cycle - you must be sport
Possibly 'cos it's the 'sporting' cyclists that cause the most aggro to other road users / are most visible tearing around 'our' countryside in peletons? completely disagree...... on the whole and not wishing to make sweeping generalisations but its the recreational/transport cyclists that gi...

Thanks for the links will check them out.

Helmet clip gone
I bought a Giro Atmos helmet last year when I bought my new commuting cycle. Just gone to put it on for the cycle home and the buckle/clip (male bit) is missing and appears to have fallen off. Can't find it anywhere. A quick call to the supplier finds that replacements aren't available. What options...

Re: CX Tyres On A Road Bike
Swapped my Kendal Kwicker CX tires for some Gatorskin HardShell's as most cycling is of the city commuting type. Despite doing around 2k miles I've only had 2 flats both in fully loaded touring mode 1 on a farm track and the other on a little used country lane with lots of debris on it.

Re: Avenue Vert (sort of) - London to Paris
One useful tip for anyone getting lost on the French section of the Avenue Verte is that there are stickers as well as signs - well, there were last summer, at any rate. Thanks Richard. Don't want it to come across that I'm moaning as this cycle route is a hugely ambitious undertaking that should b...
