The more the merrier
I recently did a solo London Paris. Nobody I know likes cycling more that maybe a few miles and even then only if its billiard table flat. Have been looking at options for doing something similar with others. Only options appear to be A) A cycle holiday B) place a advert for somebody to join me. C) ...

Avenue Vert (sort of) - London to Paris
Right, finally I'm back some thoughts on the experience.... Was looking forward to this trip but have to say it didn't quite live up to expectations. The official London Eye route to Newhaven meanders into a large amount to extra miles and so decided to take a more direct route via East Grinstead an...

Possibly this http://www.bike4cancer.org/london-to-paris-bike-ride-april-2014 Did Google it before posting here and that was the number one hit. Don't think that this was it though as you wouldn't start at Crystal Palace going to Paris and route via Finsbury Park. This is now officially bugging me!...

What event was it?
Had to take a train from Finsbury Park north London at about 1pm this afternoon. There were loads and I mean loads of cyclists all wearing blue striped shirts cycling by. Seemed strange for a Wednesday afternoon. Anyone know what the event was?

Obvious question is how much are the repayments and over how long compared to the cost of buying it normally? Never been a fan of CTW.

Re: Frameset to full bike.
Sorry appear to be having connection issues this evening. Problem with specing individual items in the Ultegra group set is that it works out way way more expensive. The front crank is £150 plus £225 for the brake levers whereas the group set bought as a whole is £500.

Re: Sleeping bag recommendation for a big person?
Definitely not... its very hard to now go back and see the prices being charged 3/4 years ago but looking at the Gore-Tex jacket I bought in 2009 which was pretty much top of the range at the time cost £300. Now its easy to spend £500 on a similar jacket. I saw the receipt from my mates sleeping bag...

Re: Frameset to full bike.
Did a quick Google and the Ultegra 6800 11 speed groupset can be had for just over £500. When I got my current Ultegra bike I noticed that a large number of Ultegra branded bikes only had a few headline items of Ultegra with the rest being cheaper FSA type components like the crank. Are there any bi...

Re: Sleeping bag recommendation for a big person?
Bags have plumeted in price over the years. I need to get a decent sleeping bag and was talking to a very outdoorsy friend and he said it was a pity I hadn't bought 1 a few years a go as genuinely decent bags ie down have shot up in price. Of the 3 bags he's got they've all at least doubled in pric...

Frameset to full bike.
Have seen a frameset that I rather like the look of but am completely clueless as to the cost of getting it to a rideable state. Can anyone give a ballpark figure of the cost of getting a frameset to a rideable state using Shimano Ultegra? excluding pedals and wheels? But using other components inli...

Re: Question: Grand Union Canal London (Southall)
Can't comment on the section your talking about but have found cycling along these paths in London a PITA. People, bad surfaces and various obstacles make the road a far quicker and calmer journey.

Re: First campsite in France.
This is a holiday? :D It is now! The weather is amazingly hot and sunny and the Avenue Vert is a fantastic cycle. After a much need sleep at a campsite ( €4.90/night) in Forges les Eaux and some quality French food I'm a very happy bunny! Tourist Office here is giving me free WIFI and allowing me t...

Re: First campsite in France.
Tried to download the archies resource onto my Nexus but it wasn't having it. Slept a bit on the boat and in the Dieppe ferry terminal till I got woken and kicked out at 6am! Wrapped up and slept a bit on the outside seating till one of the cleaners woke me at 8:30 ( yup, feel like a right hobo!!!)....
