Thanet Coast Route?

I'm planning a ride from Margate to Bournemouth.

Two initial starting routes are, Margate - Faversham and, Margate - Canterbury. Both routes merge 40 miles from Margate.

I think the 20 mile coastal promenade from M - F could become boring & repetitive; hence the Canterbury option. Opinions?

Any colour - as long as it's black

I was looking at Trek UK ( "Your awesome year starts here" ) seeing if anything tickled my fancy - but just about every Domane/Madone/Emonda is in black. I thought, the black is cool trend, had passed. If you're handing over £9,500 you expect colour choice not the Henry Ford option. https:...

Re: Canti Brake Pads?

Since you have not said exactly which model of brake you have or shown what kind of fitment there is vs the forks etc it is not possible to say what will and will not work.

Tektro CR-510 cantilever. Thanks.

Re: Foot bridges for cyclists?

Footbridges are dual purpose: to assist pedestrians and to gauge bicycle handling skills, particularly around the staggered rails.

Canti Brake Pads?

The original threaded canti's on my bike are 55mm. They need replacing. The bloke at Halfords insisted 70mm threaded V-brake pads would be fine. Another bloke in another Halfords wasn't sure. Who is right?

Cycle.Travel - quiet route default

I've been using <cycle.travel> as my go-to route planner for the past few years. IMO the best UK route planner, although I use <gpsies> having nicer maps, and <ridewithgps> having more useful features than the first two. However, the CT software is aggressive in minimising your distance on major roa...

Re: Comedy Inner Tubes

It doesn't seem to be a mismatch between the tubes & tyres. The tyres are 26 x 1.5 Vittoria Randonneur Reflector (good tyres, BTW) https://www.decathlon.co.uk/26x15-randonneur-reflect-hybrid-bike-tyre-id_8026694.html and the tubes, b'Twin 26" 1,25 - 1,50 (Schrader). Inflation is between 50 ...

Comedy Inner Tubes

Over the past three weeks I've suffered 4 punctures in both wheels. As someone who hardly knows what that word means, investigation was in order. In all 4 incidents there was no evidence whatsoever of foreign body impingement (as NASA might say). Not a thorn, nail, paper clip, shard of glass, - noth...

Re: Greater Anglia and bikes

I want to take a bike from Colchester to Norwich. I've looked at Trainline, National Rail and Greater Anglia websites and I'm starting to wonder if they are hiding the place to book your bike on purpose. They all say you need a bike booking, they offer ticket bookings but no field to book a bike. I...

Thames Path 4 - Avoid!

A while back I had a ride from London Waterloo to Winchester. The idea was to potter through the city taking in some of the sights before heading SW. I was looking forward to the Thames Path 4 section; 10 miles along the river from Teddington Lock footbridge to Walton Bridge. There were visions of a...

Re: Salisbury, Wiltshire

Here's how I do it: Down the hill from Alderbury, along the A36 cycle path past the college to big roundabout , bear right then under the subway to St Ann street > right at St John's > left at New Street > stop at High Street on the right for coffee & cake. After that head West on Bridge street.

Re: Tektro CR-510 Cantilever - Threaded or Unthreaded?

You mean the pads post, threaded or unthreaded?

TBH, I don't know what I mean - caused by watching too many bike vids on youtube. In this case, the offenders were these two by Park Tool...

Thanks. I thought they might be, since apparently, most canti pads are threaded.

I looked at the Tektro site before posting this. Unless I missed it, it didn't say what they are.

Re: Tiverton to Bracknell

I wouldn't be seen dead on a bike on the A303. In fact, that's likely how you would be seen. I would say, avoid at all costs.
