Re: Wrong Bike?

@pwa I reckon my audax bike weighs about 23lb (in old money) with guards and rack. You mentioned you've a Spa Titanium Audax. I was looking at those a few months ago. Nice. Did you try it out before buying? I bought my tourer off the Web, total blind-date, in 'my recommended size' and it's worked o...

Re: Wrong Bike?

ITs all a compromise, find the bike you think is perfect, ride it for a while, fancy something else.

For the record, I'm not thinking what everyone else is not thinking.

Re: Wrong Bike?

Much food for thought here. What tyres are you using? Continental contact 32. I wouldn't want to go thinner as many lanes are pretty atrocious. The tourer is a keeper so it'll probably have to adjust to sharing the garage with another bike in the near future. Any suggestions for a decent audax cater...

Wrong Bike?

A while back I got myself a tourer because it looked like the best solution to the sort of biking I enjoy; 30 - 80 mile day blasts with the occassional (proposed) big-day of 100 +. Although touring isn't on the cards, a tourer seemed the best fit for this sort of thing, but now I'm not so sure. Ther...

They build a round-the-world tank, then go and put 700 wheels on it.

GPS - Navigating & Recharging on the go?

Can you top up your gps device & continue navigating on the go? I have a Garmin Edge 200 and a power-bank. I've heard you can't do both - it's one or the other. Another Q: what power-bank capacity would suffice for a couple of days?

Re: Glad I had a lid.

How often previously, when not wearing a helmet, had you fallen on ice? Did you hit your head previously? Never fallen off. This story is just that; a story, completely anecdotal & not intended to promote any POV. In this case the helmet likely saved me from a nasty bash, possibly worse. BTW, I...

Glad I had a lid.

I didn't wear a helmet until recently. Last week, during the cold snap, as I began down a short hill, the tyres hit a long patch of ice, and off I went. Thump. Luckily, the speed was quite low. I'm recovering from a couple of badly bruised finger & thumb joints, a nasty cut on the shin and a few...

Distance covered of route

Cheers. I was about to go to Halfords & have it replaced for lousy battery life.

Re: GPS help needed tonight

But why not just create the route in ridewithgps removing the need for one export and one import. Because <ridewithgps> has lousy route 'currency' with UK maps AFAI can deduce, at least in the S of England. Multiple times I've created a route on it and, have ended up navigating to a private drive, ...

Re: GPS help needed tonight

I had this problem with my Garmin Edge 200. You need a (free) account with <ridegps>. Here's how I fix it: 1. Create route in <cycle.travel> website 2. Save route as .tcx 3. Import route into <ridegps> 4. Now re-export route from <ridegps> 'routes' onto your desktop. 5. Drag into Garmin 'new files' ...

Garmin Edge 200 - That Black Bar...

The manual doesn't have any info on the display options.

What is the black bar that appears at the top of the display when you're riding a course. I was assuming it's battery life?

Re: Tourer - Replacing Canti's ?

@Brucey you may just assume that all these things are OK or already as good as they can be. I was assuming that since the bike was bought new, and the braking was unimpressive from the beginning. It might be wise to apply your suggestions and upgrade the default canti's. BTW, the canti's on my secon...
