Re: Rail Lines - Past and Present - Cornwall

Did you know St. Blazey has the last remaining semi circular roundhouse in the UK? Not a railway line but interesting nevertheless.

NATURAL ANKLING wrote:Hi,
I will still be doing the route I posted further up.
I'll be trying to do at least 100 miles a day.
That might be hard in my present condition.
Each map I posted is 100 miles.
So Thursday I will hope to be in lands end.
I will update regularly on here so you can see where I am.
It will be nice to see anyone en route :D

So thurs polpero to lands end.

I'll ride some of that with you if you wish. Don't know if I'll head down to Lands end, depends on pace as I'll be riding back the same day. Drop me a PM if you're keen.

Re: Tom Watson. Whats he up to?

He and the majority of labour are betraying the working class and trying to save neo-libralism. Neo-libralism only gives the consessions required to pacify the majority. Any alternative that doesn't withhold the maximum possible is unacceptable and this is why any form of socialism isn't an option.

The fear that Democratic socialism is making ground across the world is terrifying for the ruling classes. To combat this they will go to any lenght to smear the public's image of Corbyn or any other alternative.

I don't believe in democratic socialist because you can't ask your masters nicely for your emancipation. History shows us this time and time again yet we choose to ignore it and lap up bourgeois rhetoric without question.

TL;DR Tom Watson is a class traitor.

Brucey wrote:Izumi supertoughness chain is about £60 a pop. It is allegedly x3 more durable than a standard Izumi track chain, which costs about £16. I've not compared the two; has anyone? Still, the posh Izumi chain looks cheap by comparison with the Renold equivalent.....

cheers

I've never put 1000 miles on a chain and it not have any measurable wear. I'm not saying it's worth £60 but it does seem "supertough"

mig wrote:they seem much of a muchness in use. i do run an EAI one on a bike. whilst it's good it's not that good. maybe mr spendy up thread will give his thoughts

My commuting bike has a very cheap kmc chain, sugino rd2 chainset, messanger chainring and miche sprocket.

My "nice" bike has DA cranks, DA chainring, Izumi supertoughness chain and EAI gold medal pro sprocket.

Obviously the expensive setup is better. Smoother, even chain tension and looks like it will last longer. Is it worth it? Almost definitely not but I don't drink, don't smoke, don't do drugs, don't eat meat, don't watch TV etc so I'm fine spending money on bike parts once in a while.

Mind you, you can buy a perfectly reasonable CNC machined sprocket (even from the same places as well EAI ones) for much less

https://www.velodrome.shop/track-sprockets/velodrome-shop-elite-1/8-track-sprockets/

Even Dura-Ace sprockets are 'only' £20 apiece.

cheers

As you can see I was using a Dura ace previously. Unfortunately they only go up to 16t.

Re: Fixed gear chain wear

I replaced the drive train with 1/8 instead of 3/32 consisting of an Izumi chain, EAI sprocket (17t) and Dura ace chainring (47t).

1,024 miles in, including a 400k and a 600k brevet and the wear is unmeasurable.

Due to chaining to many variables I can't say what helped and what did not but it seems to be working. I'll update the thread after another 1,000 or when it's worn out.

Sherpa?

I had a raven that is the same frame but with rohloff gearing. If you want a rugged tourer that just plods on you couldn't have picked a better bike.

Stop talking for all people with autism. You use it again and again to push what every your agenda and the presuming it then makes your point unquestionable.

I ride without a helmet and also autistic. Actually I manage around 8-10,000 miles a year and have yet to have a serious head injury.

OK, I've ignored all 300 threads you have made in the last few weeks to which you feel the need to use your autism or ADHD to answer for every action you seem to take in life. I'm on the autistic spectrum and also diagnosed with ADHD. Yes it makes my brain wired differently to some other people, but it doesn't make my judgements unquestionable and I'd never use it to justify my actions. You use it to justify everything including having a short temper. I think you need to take a look at yourself and how you use a diagnosis to excuse your quite questionable behaviour.
